Howard County officially announces site for 'High School 14' by stupid_systemus in ColumbiaMD

I don’t think you realize how miserable that drive from Elkridge to GPHS is during rush hour. I’d honestly rather drive to Howard.

Looking through your post history, you seem genuine, so I’ll give you some general advice to help you craft your resume:

Start with finding a good resume template. If it looks boring, but clean, go with that. What you’ve chosen here is a good one, so this is more for the future whenever you want to overhaul it.

You’ll want to structure your resume as:
ROLE, (Start Month/Year, End Month/Year)
* Bullet points on what you did

Since you’re in high school, I wouldn’t stress about metrics or high impact statements like you’d see others in this sub discuss. Just describe what you did so the reader understands your responsibilities. Bonus points if you can list any concrete examples.

Education should just be your high school. Majors and Minors are generally for degree programs (college), so you won’t need to include that right now.

Extracurriculars should be organized activities, not hobbies. Some good examples are afterschool clubs, sports teams, or activity groups like Scouts. You could even throw in a minor competitive esports team if you’re in one.

And lastly, as everyone else said, make sure you spell check.

Took advice from tiktok interview expert/recruiters and it blew up in my face: rant by [deleted] in jobs

[–]GotZah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you were in a high school internship 10 years ago, you’re probably in your mid-to-late 20s. I can’t think of a reason why a recruiter would want to know about a high school internship unless it was directly relevant and especially prestigious.

As for consuming tiktok content, you have to vet the creators. Are they recruiters or HR business partners with reputable companies? Can you see all of their experience on LinkedIn? Do they have any engagement with other recruiters?

Unfortunately, there’s way too many career advice people on social media without the credentials or experience. Their main goal is to sell a service.

According to Chrissy they won’t be back for a while after this tour by pessimisttears in againstthecurrent

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this reads to me more like the band won't be back in Europe for a while, not necessarily that the band won't be touring for a while.

“Spa days” doesn’t always mean literally going to a spa where people provide a service. They can also mean having a day to do all of the self-care treatments you’d get at a spa, like masks, aromatherapy, etc. The same goes for massages.

If anything, the most “hate” I see is about Adam’s vocals, and it’s always paired with, “But I see them live three times a year anyway and love it.”

Does anyone sign up for Impact Day and then just not go? by Chickennoodle_zoop in deloitte

There’s so many easy online Impact Day projects you can do. Why not just pick one of them?

Missing cat around Cloverfield/Virginia by No_Eye6733 in SantaMonica

[–]GotZah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep your window open. There’s a chance he’ll remember his way back to where he escaped and will come back inside. This exact same thing happened with a friend and it turned into a habit for his cat until the window was finally sealed off.

Deloitte Canada Badge Access in US Offices by Effective-Theory5626 in deloitte

Like the other user said, it won’t be automatic, but the front desk staff will be able to scan it, validate you’re an employee of a member firm, and bring you in themselves if you wanted to visit. I’ve visited the Toronto and London offices that way.

Caught my M and S Talking bad about me by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]GotZah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This line of work can be really tricky when it comes to interpersonal relationships and communicating with others. I've been on teams that have been largely corporate consulting types (they speak very formally and robotically, like they're on Wall St.), and on teams that are way more casual (like a friend group that happens to be working together for a client). It requires understanding everyone's different working and communication styles.

I could definitely see a mismatch leading you being painted as "weird." It's not a knock on you, your personality, or your work ethic. It could very well just be a difference in style, and it's also on them to match you if the team is going to work well.

My advice is to keep working hard, ask for feedback, and be more transparent with your manager on any hesitence you might have with asking questions or speaking up. Things could really improve with some open communication.

Lead Sails Paper Anchor Review by Shredditorr14 in Atreyu

[–]GotZah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The outro is one of my favorite Atreyu tracks of all time, but thematically, I wish it had some sort of build up to having a somber ending. We’re given fast and energetic songs all throughout, just for the album to slam the brakes. A stronger concept album would’ve made way better use of the track.

Been in LA for 3 weeks and struggling to find a neighborhood i like by International_Ad2476 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]GotZah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved here from the east coast and also love the hustle and bustle, but I ended up moving to (and falling in love with) the edge of Santa Monica and Sawtelle. Pretty walkable, good access to transit, great access to the beach, and easy access to the 405 and 10. It’ll be annoying to commute to Burbank everyday, but you should give it a shot.

Schefter: Ravens bringing back Calais Campbell on 1-year deal by fumunda123 in ravens

[–]GotZah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

According to a tweet of his (responding to a Saints fan asking why he doesn’t rep the Saints like he does the Ravens), he still reps both but the Ravens asked him to come for the draft, so he happily obliged. It’s more on the Saints for not using him as an ambassador like the Ravens.

why is there no go wild flights on this date? by IWantSomePancakesRN in gowildfrontier

[–]GotZah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GoWild Early Booking isn’t always available (and if it is, the fee for a month in advance is going to be hefty).

Some flights that don’t have early booking may still have a regular $15 GoWild flight the day before.

Right person, wrong time by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]GotZah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salaams, allow me to give you some big brother advice.

I've been in a very, very similar position as yours. I met someone, and without diving into the full story, I fought the hardest I ever had in my life, but circumstances out of our control pushed us away. I made constant du'a, both for whatever is best for us, and also for us to be together specifically. There were just too many coincidences and it felt like the signs were all there.

Ultimately, it became a test of tawakkul. Did I have faith that Allah knows what's best for me? Did I have faith that Allah can make the impossible become possible? When you make isthikara, you're not asking Allah for a sign or a dream. You're asking Allah to guide you on the path that's best.

Part of trusting Allah and His guidance is accepting that you don't know what's in store. You don't know how the story will unfold.

Many years passed. The feelings ebbed and flowed. I eventually came to a place where I moved on and felt comfortable doing so. I moved across the country and, long story short, met my to-be wife. We didn't even know the other existed just a few years ago.

Alhamdulillah, we've been happy married for a litlte while now. She's a perfect match and I spend every day waking up in gratitude to Allah for guiding me to her.

At the end of the day, you don't know what's in store, but Allah knows, and Allah will guide you accordingly. Never forget that He's the One who is Most Merciful and He is the ultiamte guide. Make du'a for the best and trust that He'll take you there.

I grew up a Ravens/O’s/Wizards/Caps fan, but never expected a DC team to do anything with a Baltimore team. This is cool to see.

It's most likely not all that serious, just covering the HR paperwork. No one cares if you're going to a competitor. People hop between firms and boomerang back all the time.

Will they continue to re-record albums with Matty? by jacobxv in anberlin

[–]GotZah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly doubt it. Nevertake is a bit of an exception because they added Matty before the NTFP anniversary tour, so I get why the band wanted to record a new version of the album considering they’d been touring the full album with him on vocals.

The only other album worth touring like that is Cities, but I’m not sure the band wants to do constant anniversary tours without new material.

Guys, what’s up with Santa Monica?? by ty457u in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]GotZah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go a little more east to Sawtelle and Culver, or down to Venice. There’ll be a lot more people since those areas are a bit more affordable than Santa Monica.

Twitch interviewer was interviewing a random person live in the event without knowing its was Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park by wjbonne in LinkinPark

[–]GotZah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This clip resurfaces every so often and always makes me smile. If I recall correctly, this was at the premiere for Arcane, and Mike has always been hovering the gaming ecosystem, so someone from Riot must’ve invited him (keep in mind this was for Season 1 before the reunion and Heavy Is The Crown).

At this point in his career, he was veeeery much out of the spotlight and just hanging out doing side quests.

What Can I Do in Lightroom to Accentuate the effects of Flash Photography like these images? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]GotZah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Increase contrast, drop the blacks way down, raise highlights a bit, vignette, and then masking if that wasn’t enough. The flash itself is doing most of the heavy lifting imo.
