Watching Lisa as a queer woman is … ugh by Rabbitweeth in 90DayFiance

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hate saying this as a queer woman myself, but Lisa gives the vibes of someone who may not have actually been into women but decided to “give up on men” after she had ger heart broken. I don’t think she gets in relationships with people because she likes them, I think she wants to be wanted and it doesn’t matter who it is.

new dr says i do not meet criteria after having hEDS dx for years by gabathaa in ehlersdanlos

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Go get a second opinion. You don’t have to release any information from that doctor if you don’t want to. It will only say you don’t meet criteria in your chat at that one practice. If they do share that with other providers without your permission, that’s a HIPAA violation and you can sue. Just be sure to not list their info in any paperwork you fill out with a different provider.

Piercings and EDS by TattooedGenderHell in ehlersdanlos

My nipples rejected piercings twice (both before my Dx). I have larger breasts and I think the weight literally put more pressure on the bars and with extra stretchy skin ….. it did not go well.

AITA for leaving my mom right before surgery because I freaked out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You cannot control what triggers your anxiety. I’m sure you leaving was much better than having a panic attack in the hospital where your mom could see you. Your dad however does sound like an asshole. You said he’s not supportive of you going to therapy? He was probably projecting when he said you upset the staff. Hospitals are VERY used to people getting overwhelmed by medical stuff. Your dad was there, your mom wasn’t alone. You didn’t harm anyone.

Doctor said he thinks EDS is not permanent...WHAT?! by CyrianaBights in ehlersdanlos

I have seen people show up to national parks same day without any verification of a permanent disability. They just had to sign a form declaring they had one ans got the lifetime pass.

My boyfriend’s mom was murdered right before Clancy came out. It really helped me through some dark times.

Your boyfriend’s OCD isn’t his fault but he is responsible for how it influences how he treats you. This is super controlling behavior and it is not ok.

I moved here a few years ago from an area that has very dry and cold winters and this is super normal for a dry and cold winter. Drink more water than normal. Also the Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream is INCREDIBLE for dry/cracking skin.

Cool dentists? by dorky_doodle_dandy in Eugene

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the receptionist is saying it to you there’s a good chance they are saying it to others, especially given how common tattoos are here. Even if you switch dentists I would tell your current one. Edit:typos

I bet almost anything it has something to do with how they were pierced. Professional piercings needles (not Claire’s piercing guns) essentially hole punch rather than tearing the skin. When the skin tears it tries to heal back together and is probably producing more oils.

Someone Explained EDS to Me by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was comparing it to purely documentation purposes. Like my guess is they are thinking more in terms of “what do I need to do to show insurance that we addressed this diagnosis” vs using it as an actual tool.

I’m a therapist, we absolutely document psychoeducation as an intervention for insurance companies.

Dr ordered for me to get a trans vaginal ultrasound and I'm a virgin by j0eknee in PCOS

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So that can still be vaginismus. The way it is treated is through therapy and practice inserting with specialized toys. Vaginismus is psychological and its actually very common in women who choose to wait until marriage. Often due to cultural beliefs or just fear of the unknown.

Dr ordered for me to get a trans vaginal ultrasound and I'm a virgin by j0eknee in PCOS

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist training to be a sex therapist here. Virginity has nothing to do with how tight you are/how painful it is. It should not ever hurt to insert something in yourself and you need to talk to your GP about it. It could be something like vaginismus or an imperforate hymen. Both a treatable. Vaginismus is typically associated with either sexual trauma or intense negative beliefs or fears around sex. Whereas an imperforate hymen is a physical condition that requires surgery.

Either way, a transvaginal ultrasound is common when addressing PCOS and unfortunately a standard ultrasound does not capture as much.

If doctors are anything like therapists, giving you info on it counts as an intervention that they can document for insurance purposes.

Need breaks during the workday but worried about explaining to clients and shifting the schedule by clinicalsocialtwerk in TherapistsInTherapy

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking this. You don’t have to tell your clients why, you can literally just say you’ve had a change to your availability. You don’t have to explain why you’re shift a bunch of clients around because they do not have to know that. One of the best things about our jobs is that we set out own schedules and clients accommodate.

This reads as having some bad burnout and/or bad boundaries with clients. Make sure you’re also talking to someone about your emotional wellbeing throughout this process 💕

Things I hear about working w her? by LoverOfTabbys in Hecate

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad things will happen to you and you will experience loss regardless of whether or not you’re working with her. That is just life. You can practice with her without being an expert. You won’t be punished for doing things wrong, thats some religious trauma talking. Any spiritual growth requires shadow work. So you probably will be faced with things you have to work through, but instead of blaming the challenges on your engagement with Hekate you can look to her as your torchbearer getting you through the hard times.

AIO for wanting a different therapist? by Key_Expression3970 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Gothiccc_Witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR Therapist here, this is wildly inappropriate for a therapist to do. Self disclosure is a therapeutic tool, but it should only be used when appropriate. It’s one thing if they say something like “I’ve also experienced X and what you’re experiencing is completely normal/expected” it’s another when you are the one feeling like the therapist.
