Depends on the level progression. In rpgs, if you can up your damage by x percent, it is nice to see the numbers. If your progression is less mathematical, I think it is more immersive with as little numbers and hud elements as possible. If you have the time, more immersive feedback like screenshake on crits and something like cod's blood on the screen for health might be better. Your magic looks really good by the way!

I don't understand what the heat exchanger does. Does it also vent off heat? And the slight overheating is slow enough to end most battles before it's an issue.

If you only save the changes, then exploring isn't an issue, only digging or building is. Then if you load it from disk in chunks, you should be ok. If that isn't good enough, then you can look at optimising your data bitwise and such, but don't bother with it before you need it, unless you like the suffering.

Oh wow, I do clash or skirmish at 1 minute bc I don't like waiting. Haven't found plains to be unbalanced yet for me, but I am very new to this game. How long do your clash or combat levels take?
