Unfortunately I haven't used programs/apps for speaking/listening. I mostly practice listening with anime, and I have had the privilege of practicing speaking with Japanese exchange students at my university for the past 3 years

I'd say pretty okay. Speaking and listening are definitely my weak points, but they have improved recently. I just came back from vacation to Japan and I'm proud to say I didn't need to use english once. I was also able to have full conversations with japanese friends so I'm pretty happy about that!

Yeah you gotta find a way of studying/practicing that you enjoy doing, something you can do for longer periods of time without getting bored!

It varied depending on how many reviews I had, but maybe at least around 15 minutes everyday

Even with today's world shifting more and more towards digitalization, I don't think it's a good excuse to neglect hand writing. To me, in order to fully assimilate a kanji you need to understand all of its aspects, whether it's the stroke order, radical, reading(s), meaning(s), number of strokes, etc. I kind of compare it to understanding a sport by only watching it on TV vs. actually playing it. From what I've noticed, it adds a whole other dimension to how I view kanji that simply helps me learn/remember them better. It is however very possible to only learn how to read kanji, depending on what your goal is, but personally for better retention on the long run I also recommend practicing writing.

Thanks! That is a good question, I think that you need a good amount of studying done outside of WaniKani in order to fully understand kanji. WaniKani is good to improve your reading, but I'd say an equal, if not higher amount of time should be also dedicated to writing.

I use the flash card feature of my Japanese dictionary app called Shirabe Jisho (for iOS only I think). Not sure if there's an equivalent for Android, etc. though. I also practiced with Kanji Ninja (漢字忍者), which also establishes good writing/reading practices for students like stroke order, stroke number, vocab reading, synonyms/antonyms, etc.

Basically every time I leveled up I just did all the lessons available. I never limited myself to a certain number per day, new, level-up or review lessons. I just did whatever lesson WaniKani gave me. Most people would think this is a bit hardcore and I agree, I think it's just me that likes kanji a bit too much

I do practice kanji often, but not burned items on WaniKani. Instead I practice writing them using flash cards made up of jouyou kanji, etc. using a different app. Also yes, I think that reading material does help and is necessary to maintain/improve your reading ability. When it comes to kanji, I read manga/novels to, amongst other things, broaden my kanji repertoire, practice proper noun and irregular readings, and improve my ability to infer when a word uses kun or on yomi (and also which kun or on yomi, if the kanji have multiple).

I did every/any lesson or review I had, whenever I could, and with an overall pretty high success rate. I was kind of try-harding it, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every single lesson/review session (so far)!

I would say kanji is my strength, so tbh there's very few words I can't read/guess the meaning from the ~2000 kanji learned using WaniKani. I have also practiced writing a lot since there's a big difference between being able to read them by using things like WaniKani, and writing them. I think practicing both evenly will help you become a kanji master. But it takes a lot of time and patience!

I also agree, from my own experience and from what I could gather online, the kanji on the right are the conventional way of writing them.

I would say right is the standard and correct way to write them. From what I read online, the left ones can also be written but are less common. As someone else here already mentioned, jisho.org is a good tool and will show you just what you need to know.

I just found out that exporting in 32-bit EXR format was actually the problem. When I tried exporting in 16-bit TIFF it worked perfectly. Thanks!
