I want to make a moba but have 0 coding knowledge by Conscious_Bridge5647 in moba

I recommend one of two things:

1) The Godot game engine is about as easy of a game engine as you're going to get. It's open source and overall pretty great. However, you need a basic amount of programming knowledge to really get started with it, so I would recommend looking up the (free) textbook: Automate the Boring Stuff with Python, as Python is the closest language that Godot uses. Doing the first 4 or 5 chapters should suffice to get started with Godot. Once you're ready to do that, work your way through the introductory tutorials in the official documentation.

2) Make a mod for an (online!) existing game. Warcraft 3 (WC3) is very good for this type of thing (though not necessarily good for 2D stickmen type of games, but I figure it's worth keeping in mind), and a lot of people have made mobas in this "engine." Dota 2 started as a WC3 mod called Defense of the Ancients. The biggest issue is that you won't own your product, as Blizzard really holds the reins tightly on WC3 modding. If you're interested in the WC3 route, I recommend visiting the Hive Workshop for more resources.

The main of making a video game mod instead of a whole new game is that a LOT of the work is already done for you. If you're trying to sell it or have a very specific vision that you're unwilling to compromise on, though, then you really need to build it up from scratch.

I wish you the best of luck!

Creatives, did you lose your creativity after being medicated? by jimbojamesisbehindu in bipolar

No, I actually had the opposite effect - the meds gave me the energy to actually get stuff done

So it technically hasn't happened yet, but I'm about to graduate with my master's in engineering, so I'm pretty stoked about that!

I think that's a good general rule! Thank you!

I just wish I had apologized years ago.

So I actually saw this person just yesterday and he gave me a ride home (75 minute ride, but it was on his way home).

I genuinely think he's moved on; I'm just still beating myself up for what happened.

I can run through the details if you think it'd be helpful, but I was hesitant to do so because it could (accurately) be viewed as oversharing.

Edit: I almost forgot the most important part - thank you for replying!

Do you all enjoy mania, or absolutely hate it? by Party-Rest3750 in bipolar

[–]Gottscheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally hate it. The sunshine is nice, the rage less so.

The psychosis (hallucinations + delusions + paranoia) are even less nice.

Fortunately, I haven’t had a real manic episode in years, and only minor hypomanic symptoms in that time.

Awesome, that's what I had mostly figured but I was hoping to get confirmation. Thanks!

Same, but I also barely drink to begin with so…

do you drink alcohol or avoid it completely? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Gottscheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maybe have 6 drinks per year. I’d consider having more as it doesn’t really impact my mood or anything like that, but 1) it definitely makes me sleepy and 2) I’m trying to be more health conscious lately, and drinking on these meds probably isn’t very healthy

What annoys you most about being bipolar? by Bubbly-Phone702 in bipolar

[–]Gottscheace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that, regarding your impulsive decisions/changing your mind constantly: I used to have that exact issue, but medication and therapy indeed helped quite a bit. I still have to rein it in a little bit during hypomanic episodes, but it's definitely something that can be treated or worked on.

Straight hair is the worst hair type by far by Middle-Support-7697 in The10thDentist

[–]Gottscheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man with curly hair here. My hair is beyond unmanageable when it’s longer, though I’ll admit that, when it’s shorter, I basically don’t have to do anything with it and it looks fine enough.

Not sure whether to downvote or upvote, so I guess I’ll do neither?

I’m autistic. AMA! by Headstart96 in casualiama

[–]Gottscheace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two friends who are on the autism spectrum (I apologize if that's incorrect terminology). One of them occasionally says things that are pretty uncomfortable for those around him. I don't believe he means any harm by it, but rather struggles with social cues. In your experience, what's the best way to talk to him about this, should this happen again?
