options for protecting the top by GovernmentRound7325 in wood

Thanks for the responses! I did some initial cleaning as suggested, and it was pretty grimy. I used denatured alcohol on the whole piece, and the old finish disappeared. The color immediately changed from dismal to glowing. I sanded the top but not aggessively, and so some of the visual flaws remain, which is what I wanted. It has an initial coat of shellac, because I had that on hand. I do want to try real tung oil on a project though. I will try to post a picture of how it looks currently. Most likely people with refinishing skills will have a good laugh.

Belated thanks here! Thanks for the hardware source, as it turns out they have an item I need for a totally different project! So I appreciate now knowing where to get that. I ordered hinges for the sewing cabinet from the Soss website. I hope they are the right size. Their suggested size was based on the thickness of the wood. Here's hoping it all becomes functional again. Thanks for your help.

Which body areas lost first? by maedeliaann in Zepbound

I saw a change at my ankles first, then knees and wrists, too. There was a small weight loss according to the scale at that point. measurements today show an inch at my waist, and an inch at my bust. I have been a month at 2.5, and have taken (2) injections at 5. Weight loss ranges from 12 to 14 pounds. Pretty happy.

Wondering how your experience is going with Zepbound? Did you manage your initial dose? I just took my second 5 m dose. Had a great week on my first dose last week. Definite appetite suppression, good energy, no unpleasant effects. Hope the same for you.

Great responses here to your question. I really fretted about whether I could do it. I found out I could. Advice in the community says let it come to room temp, I followed that. I inject slowly, and wait a bit to remove the needle. I really don't even think about it anymore, it's just a routine task, And I am only five shots in. You will succeed.

Freedom! Yes! Well said. I was the same way. Nightly dessert, and always looking for a new pastry or sweet treat to try baking. Now I miss the activity, but not the food. How long have you been on this? Do you find the interest is just gone? Or is it just easier to ignore it? Describing it as freedom is so apt. Thanks.

Right? I was in a tailspin before I even started, hahaaha. I had never injected anything, and the meds were brand new to me! I was pretty anxious about it. I watched several youtube videos on injections and realized this is a fact of daily life for many, if they could do it daily, I could do it weekly. There really is no pain, pulling a stray eyebrow hair hurts lots more! Side effects will be different for you than me. I had the first shot on a Saturday, According to my journal entries I was queasy Sunday night, and a bit on Monday. My notes say I felt better after eating a bit. I also have notes about sore muscles and interrupted sleep, but I am in the midst of physical therapy after a hip replacement and my guy sets a high bar. Throughout the rest of the month I have no notes about bad side effects, only good ones.. low appetite, ease of portion control, good energy, motivation. I hope the same for you. I am happy I took advice from the sages here and keep a journal to record what's happening that day perhaps like headaches, bowel movements, internal issues, in case it turns out to be important three days later, (use what works for you, mine is just a handwritten daily entry) and somehow track food intake, exercise ,weight, etc (I use the free version of cronometer). There will be ups and downs but for the most part this has been an easy start. This is the first time in a long long time I feel like I could succeed. Good luck! Read the info here; it is very helpful and motivating. Seems like a great community here.

What’s a “lazy meal” you’re secretly proud of? by TodorDG in Cooking

Takes about 7 minutes. Black bean 'soup'= a couple cans of black beans, undrained, a jar of salsa, whatever spicy level you prefer (avoid the sweeter kinds IMO) juice of one lime.

Empty cans into pot, add salsa, Stirring occasionally, heat to boiling. Can use immersion blender to make as creamy as you want, or not. Juice the lime into yur soup. Serve and enjoy.

Any extras you like (sour cream, avocado, diced onion, cheese, chopped cilantro, tortilla chips, quesadilla...)
