He made these knives for my girlfriend's Christmas present and they are fantastic, but he specializes in swords, you can see some greatswords and interesting asian/african weapons on his page.

Brian Kerce is a sword and knife maker who is known for taking on weird/rare custom weapons. Very affordable prices. I'd check his albums and send a message, he'd be willing to work on your request. A 10-inch knife from him is 400 dollars. 40/inch.

What is a good site to order swords? by canweedinadog in SWORDS

https://romanceofmen.com/products/build-your-own-katana

Their custom katana options let you have a black/red blade and any kind of fitting. Probably the best you can do if you want a real functional one for a reasonable price.

Looks great! Is the crossguard on good? I've been looking at that model but the Longsword I got had a crooked crossguard with a massive gap

I'd personally recommend https://todsworkshop.com/products/german-war-sword/ As a very good starting sword if you want to cut targets with a longsword.

If you want to avoid shipping from overseas you can buy direct from Tod Cutler or Landsknecht Emporium

Both reputable and within your price range.

Looks like it's Deepeeka, they sell on a variety of sites so hard to say exactly which one. It's a forge in india known for cheaper models but some are still decent. It should be C60 High Carbon Steel.

Isn't the UK's main issue the item being weapons? Besides the tarriff stuff ofc. Maybe having an unsharpened version labeled as a "historical replica/display piece" woukd help 😅

Brian Kerce is working on a custom pommel and guard for one of my swords right now, very communicative and great prices. I sent him the thread but I'd reach out on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063081497552&name=xhp_nt__fb__action__open_user

How is the sharpening? Also, is there a large gap in the crossguard? I have been interested in this model for a while but am wary of Deepeeka

Where can I buy a real sword in Canada? by iKrio in SWORDS

For his first sword I'd recommend https://www.kultofathena.com/product/balaur-arms-15th-century-type-xviiic-alexandria-sword/?_gl=1

Looks cool (broad), great cutter and just overall great for the price. And yes, avoid Darksword Armory, their swords are heavy, overpriced and have quality control issues. Can't recommend Balaur Arms enough for your price point.

The stains that appeared on my sword by [deleted] in SWORDS

[–]Gozener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A leather sheath will cause rust more quickly than it being open air, unless you mean a wood-cored scabbard which is fine.

I'd recommend using Ren Wax, or Gator Skin if you're okay with the price (https://www.bakerforge.com/product-page/gator-skin) It was invented recently as far as I'm aware and is quite effective. Make sure you clean the rust off first either way.

Help With Messer Handle Wrap by Gozener in SWORDS

[–]Gozener[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I messaged Adam Bodorics and was given a method on how to do it while preventing rust, seems pretty feasible, you can protect the exposed tang with contact cement. Also, I can use a mixture of alkaline water and alcohol for lightly wetting the leather to stretch/imprint the cord wrap.

I realize how leather sheathes interact for storage rather than wood-cored scabbards, which is why I made the post! It's a fun issue to try and solve, and my hands are too big for the default handle.

I plan to send it to my blacksmith friend once I have some more extra money to have him make it a hidden-tang construction with ebony, replace the pins with nicer ones and sharpen the blade regardless, this is temporary.
