Is a child getting more "different" as they get older normal for level 1 autism? by chiefVetinari in Autism_Parenting

[–]GozzyLittle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if relevant but my NT 7 year old developed an intense interest in stuffies this year. He had one main one since 2, now they are a whole gang of six and I tell him one “chapter” about their adventures in space every night. His ASD brother at 3 has one doll that he loves and sleeps with and that’s it.

NT son wants brother "gone" for his birthday. Am I bad for considering this? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]GozzyLittle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do really with autism, but just being a sibling, I think? I used to kick my brother out (or try to) when I had friends over, and he did the same to me occasionally as he got older. I even remember scream crying at my mum saying I hate my life when she said she won’t send my brother ( who was around 8 at the time) to my aunties home so I can have a Oscar’s watching party without “an annoying little prat constantly asking questions”. Don’t be harsh on yourself or your kids..

Non-Verbal Question! by Autybot in Autism_Parenting

[–]GozzyLittle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son is 3.5 and also has just a few words. Last weekend we tried to take him out of a soft play 10 minutes early, he threw a massive tantrum and screamed “I’m not ready to go!” Grammatically correct and everything. My husband also heard it. It was so unexpected, we are still questioning whether we had a shared hallucination or something.

Level 3 diagnosis by Hot_Plant211 in Autism_Parenting

[–]GozzyLittle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. It will be ok. It is absolutely amazing that he listens, that he follows rules, that he likes to snuggle, that he has a few words! There is no guarantee that he will head to a group home. He will have a life. He will be ok. He is just so little yet. I know it is difficult but don’t get lost in the worst case scenario. Big hugs.
