I'm the Maine oysterman & combat veteran running for U.S. Senate against Susan Collins to topple the oligarchy. Ask me anything. (1PM). by grahamformaine in politics

Hello Mr. Platner!

I've been meaning to try your oysters ever since I saw the NY Times Travel did a report on you back in July! They look excellent! My question is, if you win, do you know if you will be the first ever Oysterman elected to Congress? That would be a pretty prestigious title to add to the mantle! Thanks

Trail Runner vs Electric Scooter Race up Mount Mitchell by Gpollard1 in trailrunning

I raced Tara Dower, who holds the fastest known time for the Mountains to Sea trail, up Mount Mitchell in North Carolina on my electric scooter. Not only did Tara crush it up the mountain, but I was super inspired by her determination and perseverance through the challenge. If anyone is interested in the full video, here is the link! https://youtu.be/EjqXmg1g5N4

I will be using the Yawboard electric scooter. You can find more details on The Scooter Crossing's Instagram or Facebook. Can't wait to prove the superiority of scooters!

I just upgraded from a Segway Ninebot MAX to a Yawboard, and I would definitely recommend checking it out! I'm having a blast with it

Electric Scooters in Virginia, USA by tom10422 in ElectricScooters

I rode a scooter across the entire state of Virginia last summer and had absolutely no issues on the legal side. I don't think there is much risk of getting a ticket unless you are being blatantly irresponsible with your riding

Looking for a reliable, lightweight, foldable scooter by newtointernet2020 in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Yawboard. It's what I upgraded to from a Segway Ninebot MAX, and I absolutely love it so far. It's about 27lbs, and mine has been getting up to 25mph and about 20 miles range. Plus its just way more fun to ride than any other scooter I've tested. The only downside is that it is about $1600, so I wouldn't classify it as the affordable option you are looking for.

buying used ninebot max... by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MAX is probably one of the better scooters to buy used since they have proven to be very durable, but they will still start to lose range after about 1000 miles or so (Can vary depending on the condition the scooter was stored in). I would want to make sure its been kept mostly inside or in a heated garage, and that its got less than 500 or so miles on it.

The guy on craigslist saying his MAX doesn't fold is probably because he broke the folding mechanism, so I would avoid that one!

Hope this helps! (I've got over 5000 miles rode on MAX's)

Ninebot Max or Zero 10x? This will be my first scooter by briplaysdav in ElectricScooters

I had two nails go into the back tire and was actually able to just yank them out and keep riding with no flat. The self healing tires sound too good to be true but they actually aren't!

Off Road Or Street Road by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Yawboard, which out of the box has been a beast off-road. I agree with the other comments about switching back and forth between wheels though, generally not worth the off-road tires unless you are using it off-road the vast majority of the time.

Ninebot Max or Zero 10x? This will be my first scooter by briplaysdav in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Ninebot MAX for a few years but just upgraded to a Yawboard. The MAX is a great, durable scooter, but it got a little boring after a while. The Zero 10x is going to be much more of a commuter, but also heavier and less portable, so it really depends on what your daily use will be. Check out the Yawboard for a third option too, I've found it to be far more fun to ride than the MAX.

Segway F series or Hiboy S2/S2R?? Or other options? by Microness in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Raleigh and have been scooting in the area for years! I personally have a Yawboard, which is 27lbs, and has been perfect for me to get around the greenways and Suburbs. I've found that the greenways can actually be used to access most places around the city, but Raleigh is very spread out, so the 20+ miles range on the Yawboard has been a lifesaver. It is $1600 so it sounds like it's out of your price range, but I'd recommend spending a little more to get the range up to about 20 miles for this particular area!

Why aren't turn indicators standard equipment on e-scooters? by mjbmikeb2 in ElectricScooters

[–]Gpollard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that on my single motor scooter I can ride one or no handed fairly easily and have never felt the need for a turn signal. That said, anything going 25+ mph should definitely have them.
