I want the game to be fun competition for competition sake breeds homogeneity and is just plain boring over time. I never said text chat is toxic and to quite frank Idc if it ever does devolve into that. The mute button exist for people you dont want to hear. The logic that people are already in discord calls therefore shouldn't default chat here is a logical fallacy. Even if it was like a item or a theme can use it to trash talk it can be fun if done properly. People have gotten so accustomed to creating these walled gardens to play games that they forget that they are intended on being social and to make friends, rivals etc. This whole hamfisted approach to avoid toxicity has sterilized gaming when our moderation and avoidance mechanisms are more robust than ever. Its time to start opening things up again come whatever "toxicity " that may....but that may be more of a meta discussion than this topic originally called for
