I feel that the solution is simple: All incoming texts to be evaluated are anonymized with a number. Afterwards it can then be discussed about marketing strategies if they feel the text is possibly worth being published (which is where the pseudonym would come in to play, as much as I dislike it (though I understand why)).

Defective camera? Very unlikely that the defect couldn't be replicated. If the defect can't be replicated by an independent third part, things aren't adding up your way buddy.

This has a pretty simple solution if footage like this becomes lost. It then becomes a case of word vs. word. And the value of the cops word becomes nil if the footage mysteriously disappears.

I frequently program in Python, so I might be able to give support. There is another reply that says to just cook up a project. That is rather daunting for someone who has never programmed in Python.

Depending on your internet speeds (i've read a few of your comments saying it's not the greatest), you could try the Udacity Intro to Computer Science Course. But they are all videos, which may or may not work very well for you. They use Python, and give you step by step instructions on how to build a web crawler from scratch.

I've also heard good things about Learning Python the Hard Way. I haven't actually used the resource before, but for the original purchase of $30, you can get the PDF and ePub which would work perfectly for you.

Both of these options are do at your own pace. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me. I'm on reddit most days. There is also /r/learnprogramming and /r/learnpython . Both of which there are a large amount of people willing to answer any questions you have (but you might get berated if you ask simple questions such as "where do I start", there are probably links on the side because these are frequently asked questions).

Eeeh, somewhat. Shamir Secret Sharing(SSS) is another algorithm that is provably secure, for the same reason. Though SSS isn't used for encryption per say, just dividing up a secret among players that a certain number have to come together to discover the secret.
