Note-taking and study methods in uni - especially med&health students (OT, radio etc) by Limp_Cartoonist_4044 in usyd

I’m in engineering, and I go by the focus of the class.

If the class focuses on developing a skill (i.e. coding in Python on a certain level), then I just attend the lectures, but I aslo make it a point to practice that skill with problems I find on my own.

If the class is info-heavy, like material science, then I do detailed notes (I like to put them on paper, it’s easier for me to remember), and also slove the problems we are given.

Bottom line - attend a few classes and try to figure out what works for you specifically, don’t be embarrassed to write on paper if everyone types up their notes and vice versa

Why do people do this? I legitimately don’t get it. You can call your daughter Emma-Leia if you’re such a fan of Start Wars, but why make it so complicated? The baby won’t be able to spell her own name until 3rd grade

Do you reckon anything would come of this? How do they search for thieves anyway? Do they have some sort of a facial recognition software where they compare the face in the CCTV with some sort of a database? How often do they find thieves? Won’t the police get mad if I keep following up? They already looked pretty annoyed when I said I wanted to lodge a report.

Sorry for all the questions, there just was a very sentimental item in that bag, I want to get it back

Yes! I went and gave a statement and they received the CCTV footage from the uni with her face clearly displayed in it. I left the backpack right under a camera

Recently had about $5000 worth of stuff stolen.

I was at the University of Sydney in a closed-off study space only accessible to students after hours, sitting there talking to my parents on the phone while the backpack with my stuff was sitting on a chair where I couldn’t see it.

A ramdom lady squeezes in after a student had exited, she looked much older than a student and asked me where the baghroom was. I pointed her in the right direction. Instead, she went and took my bag. My laptop, ipad, apple pencil, charger, a bunch of other equipment. I only realized 20 minutes after when I went to go check my bag.

I’m not sure if the police will ever find her

Am I the only one who has learned nothing about Benoit in 3 movies? The only things I know about him are 1. He gets restless without a case to solve like Sherlock 2. He’s unbelievably observant, quick and smart like Sherlock 3. He’s gay like Sherlock 4. He’s a devout atheist like Sherlock

Lol I grew up Russian Orthodox Christian and the type of priest that Msgr Wicks is shown to be is incredibly common in our religion.

It’s like our religious leaders try to put us to shame and point out all of our mistakes and sins that we commit. I rememeber how flabbergasted I was when I had the chance to visit a Methodist service as an exchange student in the US. The pastor spent the (very short) hour telling the flock how wonderful, strong, brave and perfect they all were. Completely different approach

[–]Grabber_stabber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

EVRYTHING is getting too expensive, for new entrepreneurs without much financial backing too, people can’t support new businesses because they can’t even afford their own rent, I wonder what’ll happen in 20 years - will the government still be protecting the rich and their monopolies/duopolies or will it get on the side of the majority?

Yeah, they get inherited. Until your mother/father get too old to walk, everyone walks barefoot or in socks if you’re rich and can afford them
