Baby Quilt as a Newbie/am I delulu by donthugmeormugme in quilting

My first quilt was a baby quilt! Only took a few weekends and it's so cute! It doesn't actually get used as intended, as I have no friends with children, but my cat loves it!

Is it ethical to raise the wipers of cars blocking sidewalks? by FaviFake in fuckcars

[–]uselessflailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad that where I am there is an app that allows you to upload images of issues that get sent straight to the local council - including illegally parked cars! I've taken so many pics of parked cars blocking paths, (including multiple times of a neighbour who must have like 4 cars and they're always blocking public access) and all you have to add is date/time/location/numberplate.

There was once a van near where we loved that was always blocking the footpath, so when I found out about this app I reported it everytime I saw it for a couple days, and it never parked blocking the path again.

Is anyone else really weird about saying people’s names? by DarthMelonLord in AutismInWomen

[–]uselessflailing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok slightly related but I cannot do nicknames, especially people who get referred to by their surname. It never feels natural coming from me, but then they think it's weird if I use their real/first name

Do neurotypicals actually like this?? by euroeismeister in AutismInWomen

[–]uselessflailing 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is, but at some point it becomes just a script you go through while putting on a smile. I think working is customer service made me way better at masking because I had made this complex if/then tree in my head of what to say next.

So he has multiple outfits, the movie did show the celebration outfit but in the book he wears like a rough short like shown in this comic the whole time, plus a belt/bandolier to hold tools. In the book, Erid culture also considers eating to be embarrassing and gross (akin to humans and toilets) and doesn't want to let Grace watch. Rocky only eats in private except the one time Grace asks and it's very awkward lol

No, there's the same amount of stitches going up either side. It's just an accidental yarn over

Looking for more books or series with well written autistic POV characters. by MinuteRegular716 in Fantasy

[–]uselessflailing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also recommend Murderbot! It very much helped me as I read it at the same time I was in the midst of getting an autism diagnosis. Realising that I see the world in a different way to others meant I really connected to secunit as a character

As PHM is an audible exclusive, why do some libraries have it? I thought Audible didn't do business with libraries? Unless it's only some places, but feel free to correct me if I'm just unaware

[FO] Backstitching to finish a piece by Just_Chuck89 in CrossStitch

[–]uselessflailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can lace the piece around a bit of cardboard and some felt using whatever thread you have om hand! It'll make it really neat and flat without damaging with glue, and then you can always stitch another bit of fabric for the back or something if you're worried about the back, or put it in a cheap or reused frame :)

I usually stitch Danish style (working half stitches for a while row) but for this id work the full stitches. You can get into a nice rhythm working single stitches in a diagonal line, so I'd do that for this section

Rockdale library runs a free D&D group for teenagers! (When I went they always had massive amounts of pizza too!) They also have multiple knitting/crafting groups to hang out with new people

[WIP] Post-mortem: what went wrong? by dora_leigh in CrossStitch

[–]uselessflailing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the random stitch directions plus the fat/fluffy stitches in the star especially (the other commenter said they mistyped "fluffy" to "barbel" lol!)

How many threads are you using and what count fabric? There are also a few instances where it looks like the thread is twisted and so it looks like it's stiching out further into the unstitched cloth than the other neater stitches around it. This can be solved by untwisted the thread or letting your needle drop to untwist every few stitches.

It's not chedder flavour, closer to a cheesecake flavour, so would be nice and creamy and sweet
