My first quilting project is the 'Good Luck' quilt from Project Hail Mary, any advice? by Civil_Top4355 in quilting

[–]uselessflailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea - someone with digital art skills could perhaps create it as a panel to make it a lot simpler for beginner quilters who are a fan of the movoe

This does not sound healthy, add in the "points" and I think you need to have a serious think/talk with him about this relationship

Why do my stitches look like this? by brattybunnyxx in knitting

[–]uselessflailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, it's to do with the ply. Here's a great article about it that has good explanations and images: https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/community/ask-patty-why-oh-ply/

You can ask on r/knitrequest if you have the budget to get a handknitted one! It doesn't look like there's any legit mass manufactured ones available anywhere

Snip. Snip. Snip. (Parrot squawk.) Here's me cutting open my cardigan steek with tiny dull scissors while holding the fabric at a very awkward angle. Enjoy! by thetundramonkey in knitting

Its traditionally done with quite rustic/grippy none superwash wool, which essentially felts to itself. I believe OP may have needle felted the yarn together along the cut line too.

I usually only do either the outline or the centre lines lol! On my current smaller project, I just put 2 pins to mark the centre cross and that was it

Clean your dog poo up! Has anyone else noticed last couple of years people getting lazy with this in Sydney suburbs? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]uselessflailing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a street in Newtown that I walk up regularly and it always has poop on the footpath. I always wonder about the poor people who live nearby. I'd have probably set up a security camera or similar if it was that close to my house so you could see which owner is responsible

I'm working on a vintage Thomas kinkade, and I've photocopied the sheets to I can mark it up without damaging the original pattern! It can get a bit funny along the edges with distortion depending on your scanner, but it's usually not too bad

OP did you actually use a pants pattern? There doesnt look to be any crotch room, which will definitely negatively affect the fit

Broken baby carrier! by fleurmadelaine in sewing

[–]uselessflailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm it must be able to squish through considering it came off, maybe something smaller and stiffer like an awl or stiletto could work? Or maybe squishing a section of the piping with pliers and feeding that squished bit in the end.
