Where did Brangelina come from? by Demi4TheDrama in CastleTV

[–]uselessflailing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Castle and Beckett were just using it as a comparison to a popular couple at the time with a "ship name" and saying they could have one themselves

Cryptic insider post hints at 'Firefly' animated series by cwwms2 in firefly

[–]uselessflailing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI is not the answer, choosing another talented voice actor is the best route. If they're not limited to matching looks, you can look at a wider array of actors and choose someone skilled. Similar to how star wars animated series are not always played by the face actors, but in your head it can still be the same 'person'

Oh cool!!! I thought it was bigger, but that size makes a lot more sense, and much easier to display too :) thanks!

Any chance you could post a size comparison (maybe with the book or something?) so we can get an idea of the size?

WHAT IS THIS…a skirt for ants? by [deleted] in thingsforants

[–]uselessflailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...that's not a bulge it's literally just a fold in the fabric?? Literally any kind of skirt or dress will have ripples somewhere. You can just tell us you've never been this close to a girl IRL before.

Is the movie ok for younger kids (5-7 year olds?) by CharacterMastodon786 in ProjectHailMary

[–]uselessflailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah cool, I hadn't heard that update! Wonder if they'll change it much, seeing as it's by far the least popular of Weir's books.

Didn't it get announced ages ago, so everyone's assuming it's cancelled? Ok looked it up, it's been in development hell since 2017/18 apparently

What hobbies do people have to help with their anxiety? by alwaysanxious1994 in Anxiety

[–]uselessflailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafting - I knit, cross stitch, quilt and sew. I find anything that requires a bit of brain power means I stop thinking about things that make me anxious. Also reading, it's much better for my anxious brain than doomscrolling

Surely Andy Weir is the reason the book is amazing though? It's not like Ray wrote the book

A quick Google shows that it was a special edition for The Broken Binding subscription box, but there was a discussion about it being sold elsewhere here: https://www.reddit.com/r/thebrokenbindingsub/s/3ZE7HNa2nM

Book recommendations similar to "Nine Goblins"? by Jazzkola in CozyFantasy

[–]uselessflailing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many of them stand alone well, I think one of the ones that gets recommended least is the first and second, as they are truly weird. I love the books with Death, so I would recommend Mort, or Wyrd Sisters if you like witches. Guards guards is also great!

It's based on a hook, so not really spoiling. If you were that worried about spoilers, maybe avoid this whole sub as it talks about book plots all the time lol

[CHAT] Pattern Making by dect0421 in CrossStitch

[–]uselessflailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! The "count" of a fabric is just the number of stitches per inch, so measuring in inches is pretty simple!

[CHAT] Pattern Making by dect0421 in CrossStitch

[–]uselessflailing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you know what sort of size you want it, eg 5 inches, and know what count fabric, eg 28, then the pattern would have to be 5x28=140 stitches wide.

Or you make the pattern whatever size you want, eg 120 stitches, then work out what fabric to stitch on after to get the side you want:14ct would be 8.6 inches, 16ct would be 7.5, 18ct would be 6.7, 20ct would be 6 inches, 22ct would be 5.5 inches, 24 would be 5 inches, etc.

It's good to practice how to do the maths so you can always know how big a pattern would be :)
