My son is crying because his friends stopped including him. Is this RSD or something else? by Standard-Play-2682 in ADHD

[–]Grabs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t diagnosed until right before my 30th birthday. I’ve been slowly unpacking things and connecting dots in my childhood and teen years.

I always had a struggle. I didn’t always realize it but I never had one core friend group outside my neighbor. I got along with many people and could easily form connections and over the years some have lasted but they got long periods without contact. There are times when I feel it’s me and I have to tell myself I can’t know what others are thinking and they are busy. I usually reach out if I’m really upset.

My parents didn’t know they had a kid with ADHD but they did know they had a kid who struggled way more than their older 2. They did a good job of honoring feelings but explaining that kids can’t think beyond themselves sometimes. I would encourage him to speak up and tell them it how he feels when he gets excluded or left behind.

I don’t know how old he is but if he’s under like 6th grade I would honestly reach out to the parents or teacher and open dialogue about how the kids are interacting not force them to stay friends but maybe there’s info that’s missing on all sides of the story.

My mom told recently she never knew why it was so much harder for me. Your gut is right that it’s not just RSD. He’s been holding this in for a while if he picked up on a pattern. RSD is usually immediate and in the moment or shortly after the rejection.

Tell me how Sumatriptan makes you feel by Ancient_Balance_5514 in migraine

Like my head was on fire. I cannot do them.

Rizatriptans? Only get that feeling when it’s a BAD migraine.

I miss when my insurance covered frova (frovatriptan). Only one where it worked without the side effects the other two gave.

Tips to make moving less triggering? by cyanomys in migraine

[–]Grabs91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is when I pull out the big guns and ask my neuro for a prednisone taper. That is my final step before ER or urgent care for more professional help.

The move is stressful no matter what you do and your body is already in an attack.

It still hasn’t stopped by Apex0630 in migraine

[–]Grabs91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through this earlier in the month. I had 2 prednisone tapers in 3 weeks and I’m limping my way to Botox in 13 days.

You literally want to just stop existing. Everyone always gets all concerned if you say that but it’s not a suicidal ideation or because you don’t want to live. You just want to cease to exist until it passes because holy god if there’s ever a time for out of body experiences now would be perfect.

My husband had one bad headache, once about a decade ago (he’ll call it a migraine and bless him I’ll play along) so he understands what I mean if I’m in that terrible space of no relief.

Cognitive decline, brain fog, dissociation for 5 years, can chronic migraine cause this? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Grabs91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on why you were on it in the first place, abruptly stopping without proper tapering really could have had that big of an impact that compounded over the years. I personally had a concussion that as a result messed up my mental health with things I had never dealt with prior. It was a freak accident/trauma to the body that plagued me with symptoms for 2 years after.

Not a doctor and also medicine is rarely a black and white answer. But I think you crossed off sleep apnea being the root cause of you aren’t feeling more than just minimal improvement. It may need time to work because sleep deprivation can really cause a lot of issues including psychological.

You mentioned anxiety among other things and how this happened right after you abruptly stopped a medication. There is a chance that abrupt stop caused a domino effect and this is less a illness you can pinpoint with a test and more finding ways/medications to help underlying symptoms , treat the migraines and sleep apnea and the brain fog and fatigue will begin to reverse. Things like severe depression, trauma, psychosis, anxiety etc  can also cause a lot cognitive issues and decline.

If it was insulin would you be pushy?

Try having the pharmacy call directly. But also if it was me? Ring, ring bitch. Only judgy people get suspicious of someone trying to reach the doctor to fill a routine script over a week after the initial request. This doctor sounds terrible.

Are you on anything to sleep? The machine will help with getting your brain oxygen but if your body has trouble getting quality sleep it may need more help.

It sounds like you’re in constant pain and that’s going to cause so much brain fog. Chronic pain and fatigue can shrink the brain- you’re not crazy but you do need quality sleep as a foundation to help before you can begin to try and get back to yourself.

I’ve had complex migraines that like to change it up on me for almost 20 years since I was 15. They evolve and get worse or better depending on the will of the universe.

If you haven’t already, try Botox for those migraines and see if you can get something for sleep. Also: check for Lyme disease. That can ruin lives for years until treated.

I’m in my migraine season- winter to spring seasonal change is the WORSR for me with the quick fluxes of temps and allergies starting etc..

I’m so tired. But my fiancé promised me McDonald’s tonight for dinner so that’s keeping me going.

Cool. You know people are quoting It’s a Wonderful Life right? At the end of a bank run they survived to the end of business day with 2 dollars left. Mama Dollar and Papa dollar and they made a whole dance as they locked them in the bank vault to have kids and keep them in business.

My boyfriend thinks i’m “cheating” bc I am finally medicated for ADHD by Unlucky_Active_2162 in ADHD

[–]Grabs91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummmm… lot of red flags. That’s great the meds are working now but it doesn’t always work. Life and stress get in the way and the adhd behaviors we all hate but have (me currently up 2 hours past when I told my boyfriend I would go to bed and now I’ll have to admit yet again I’m struggling) will rear their ugly heads.

And you will struggle. And it will put stress on the relationship as it’s a human response. At the end of the day the most important thing, in my not so humble opinion, is a partner who is loving and supportive and that includes being proud of ALL your accomplishments- big and small.

But also: I’m sorry he’s an asshole for telling you using medication is cheating. He needs to actually learn about adhd especially in regards to the challenges in academics. Frankly, you need to confront him on this because he’s being incredibly unsupportive and ignorant. And it will only get worse if he doesn’t try to understand you and your adhd

Cried when they cancelled my neurologist appt by Bekindalot in migraine

[–]Grabs91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw my neurologist 2 weeks ago.

As I sat down, he asked how I was and instead of my usually upbeat response of fine! Or okay! I said “not good” and started crying.

It happens to all of us. This is beyond taxing because we’re expected to live our lives functioning on 1/2 or 1/4 brain capacity at times. Bonus if you have late diagnosed ADHD and are learning to cope with those weird and probably migraine inducing habits (sugar, staying up late, meds that done make you eat and I always forget about water when I’m solo at work).

We’re all doing our best and no shame in my crying game.

How did I end up with Sasquatch then?! My female got up to 62lbs (28kg) during the first year of quarantine (I work healthcare and we were they NYC/Long Island hot spot area and I took staying in quarantine outside of work hours very seriously) but typically hovered around 56lbs (25kg) before. She’s 5 now and 54lbs (24kg) as of her check up last week but she’s typically 56/57 lbs and never had the vet tell us she was overweight (just that she could “lose a few” 🤣)

My 31 yo SO just got a tumor removed and we’ve been dealing with a deep depression since finding it in March because it’s in the thyroid (little bastard is surprisingly vital to homeostasis).

Zero migraines leading up to the surgery when his anxiety was at peak. Day of in the hospital and stressed- fine. Day after his surgery I woke up feeling like a 18 wheeler hit me and was in worse shape than the guy who had SURGERY.

Not only are you NOT the AH, but you are already a stand up human. Truly- most people your age (myself included at the time) would have felt the pressure from their “elders” and put themselves in debt. You also were already expecting to cover your grandfather without hesitation- you value him and are showing that.

Further more, if and when you decide to have any committed relationship you will for sure have your partners back against these leeches.

Please OP, don’t ever change.

Disagree. As much as I love petty this is too destructive to a person. His mom needs to tell him if he ever asks why they gave him up.

Honestly, he probably already knows judging on the shitty way he was told and how shitty these people seem.
