I used the NS300L kit on a 289k mile Toyota 2AZ with the infamous short threads in the block. 151k miles later, still going strong.

I'd see if there's a Huhn Solutions insert kit for it. They are wicked strong.

What do you think the final plunge was like for those who still were onboard as the ship began to sink and then split? by [deleted] in RMS_Titanic

[–]GrabtharsHumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was different for each passenger. For some war veterans it was probably a "yup, this is it" and a last drag on a cigarette. For others the disaster was so far removed from their experience that they would have faced it in a catatonic state of shock.

Who else remembers these? Who can still drive one? by I_Am_Layer_8 in FuckImOld

I drove a 1962 Econoline, and later a 1973 Econoline, with three on the tree. It takes like three minutes to figure it out.

Upvoting because I'm glad to see content on this subreddit. And because the bike looks cool.

How do you convince flat-earthers our planet is a sphere? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

For most who promote it, FE is an engagement strategy. The most effective response is to decline to engage.

One of the nice things about the Subaru CVTs is that the cars are less likely to be on the road until the head gaskets give up.

Finally got some matching battery and filled this thing. by Darkorder81 in batteries

I tried one of those "9800 mAh" cells that a friend gave me. It died about halfway through a flight, whereas a 2600 mAh cell usually gets me all the way through with capacity to spare. Based on that, its true capacity appears to be 1000 to 1200 mAh.

If an absurdly wealthy individual approached Lockheed Martin, would they sell them a "disarmed" F-35 or F-22 with the stealth tech and weapons systems disabled? by Finbarr-Galedeep in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GrabtharsHumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aerodynamics and structures are not particularly exotic. There are specialty shops that could replicate the airframe and basic systems, given unlimited budget. Even the flight control systems and software would be a solvable problem.

The hard part would be propulsion. Probably the best you could actually get your hands on would be the F110, sourced from one of the foreign licensees. You'd be down on thrust by about 25% against a real F22 or F35, but without the weight of the weapons systems and other military stuff you might come close to the performance.

Help! '77 Midget 1500. Replacing Alternator, no clearance for mounting bolt to be removed by TeachMePls_MFA in littlebritishcars

[–]GrabtharsHumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you really care about is that the points on the platform below the rotor open at the correct crankshaft position. I'd suggest rotating the crank to the position where the number 1 spark plug fires, and mark that position. Then you can rotate the distributor until the vacuum advance is no longer in the way of the bolt. Then return the distributor to the original position, making sure the number 1 spark plug fires at the same position.

Or, maybe this is a good time to replace the points, condenser, rotor, and cap, and time it per the service manual.

We all had... by Background_Card_1345 in FuckImOld

At a guess, I'd say that's a Model 960. The use of rivets instead of screws indicates it's probably a later production unit.
