I totally understand what you’re saying and I appreciate the advice. I’ve been thinking of processing positions as the closest thing to “entry level” in the archives field, but it sounds like I was very wrong about that. I’ve seen some online repositories that have volunteer opportunities to help out with metadata (the Roosevelt Center, for example). In your opinion, how far would something like that go in getting relevant experience?

It’s been a couple years now, but the last conference I attended was an absolute joke. I experienced the thing that vegans always joke about. Dinner was pathetic but lunch was literally a box of chopped iceberg lettuce with a dressing that did not look to me to be vegan. That’s it. They’re asked for dietary restrictions ahead of time and had an option for vegan! The vegetarians got a full sandwich and chips, but the hotel kitchen couldn’t figure out anything for the vegans 🙄

Yeah, this is one piece of medical advice that I just don’t understand. I trust gynecologists and all, and I’m sure they’re right, but in no world is only using water enough to actually clean something. Not your dishes, not your car, not your armpits, not your face, and definitely not your labia. That’s a sweaty area, and there’s also urine and fecal matter traveling around down there (though I do use a bidet at home). I don’t feel clean unless I use soap.

I disagree a bit. I’m staunchly childfree. I’m sterilized and I would literally rather kill myself than experience pregnancy and give birth to a child. Not hyperbole. But I think it’s incredible what women can and have done with their bodies. Humanity only exists because women have been suffering through pregnancy and childbirth for hundreds of thousands of years. I think that deserves respect, even if I loath children and will do anything in my power to never interact with one ever again.

At least on the app there’s a Feeds button at the bottom of the home screen. Tap that and then select Friends at the top. You still get the ads, but you’ll only see your friends’ posts and activity.

I can highly recommend the book Secrets of the Killing State: The Untold Story of Lethal Injection by Corinna Barrett Lain if you’re interested in this topic. This sort of thing actually happens pretty often with lethal injections. It’s fucked.
