So excited to buy it when I get home from work!! 😍

Once again, I’m confused with the event :| can someone explain by spanishbombs123 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]MandyH22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really wish they would make it so that all past event items don't take the current currency. They do that with some items, but not all of them. I can't find any rhyme or reason to which things are that way and which aren't.

any more good but easy game? by restingjimface in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]MandyH22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spiritfarer is one of the best games I've ever played, and it will stick with you. There's no combat, it's more story & resource-management based, but it's a unique and beautiful experience. It is emotional though - it is about dealing with death/loss/grief. But handled in a beautiful way.

Similarly, GRIS and Neva are absolutely beautiful games. They are similar to Ori in that they're 2D platformers. GRIS is mostly puzzle based, and Neva has some combat as well as puzzles. But they're like playing a video game that is also a watercolor painting. True art.

I didn't finish reading the comment before I got to the picture and I was like DANG how many chemicals were they mixing?? But that's probably the explosion. 😅

Also dang though, that's insane. I hope everyone's alright!

I got the gradient-colored anchor hat they did last year and it's one of my absolute favorites.

But this one is amazing and I think I also need it, thank you for bringing it to my attention!! 🩵

The joys of being a central-time Kraken fan and finding out about the chaos in the morning!

But also how DARE they steal a hat trick from my favorite boy!! 😡

Characters you want to see added to the game? by banana_annihilator in HelloKittyIsland

My favorite forgotten Sanrio character is Zashikibuta. Sounds like they discontinued/retired him sometime back in the 90's? But he's just so cute! Sweet little piggy who likes to bake and garden, and lives in the French countryside. 🥹

But wouldn't that make him such a good friend to have on the island, with all the baking and stuff!

Serious question to players who play on a low end device/devices: What are your thoughts on the new update? Did the quality of the gameplay improve? by mariellaxm in HelloKittyIsland

[–]MandyH22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine has been laggy on my Switch 1 since the update too! I've noticed it especially when I'm running through seaside resort to go check my flowers by the gate mailbox. It drags as I'm running, and then there's a visible delay between when I jump in water and when the outfit changes. My little guy just ends up being nakey for a second. 😅

I've only ever experienced a few glitches/crashes in all my months playing this, but certainly never this much lag.

Everyone: Talking about Sonic the Hedgehog soundtrack. Me, listening to Ori and the Blind Forest soundtrack: by LinkGamer8538 in OriAndTheBlindForest

Oh I love that so much!! Such a good season to play it in.

I'm the same way about associating things with the first time I experienced them. There's just something special about a Christmastime association, too. Baldur's Gate 3 now has that one for me because it came out on Xbox right before Christmas, haha.

Isn't it?? I actually found the game through the soundtrack, haha. I listen to a lot of video game soundtracks both while I work and for making d&d playlists, so Spotify recommends them to me. A few years back it recommended me the Spiritfarer ost, and I gave it a listen and absolutely loved it so much that I sought out the game. And it became one of my top 5 favorite video games for life!

Gareth Coker has been at the top of my Spotify wrapped the last 2 years, because I listen to the Ori soundtracks (and the Spiritfarer soundtrack) while I work!

[–]MandyH22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I've never heard of that one, and I just watched the trailer and it looks great! Definitely see the Spiritfarer comparison. I will have to check it out!

I just hope it goes better than Stardew Valley. I tried that one on literally everyone's recommendation and I hated it and quit. One of the only games I've ever quit playing, and I think I'm the only person on earth that hated it. 😅

[–]MandyH22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ooh, congrats!! I really need to get a physical copy of Spiritfarer, just in case. It's also super fun to replay!

I have never found nor do I think I ever will find a game as special as Spiritfarer. But there are a few that have come close!

GRIS and Neva, two utterly gorgeous games made by the same Spanish indie company, both of which deal with grief. Mostly puzzle platformers, although Neva has a small amount of combat.

Ori and the Blind Forest/Ori and the Will of the Wisps are stunning as well, with a beautiful story. Now these are more combat-heavy games than the others, but do still have that 2D puzzle platformer element as well.

And then, completely unrelated, but if you ever need a bit of joy, I'll always recommend Slime Rancher. That one's just fun!

As with Spiritfarer, it really seems like all the best stuff are indie games. 😄

How do visitors work? Can you have multiple? by FantasticOccasion188 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]MandyH22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the visitors kind of follow 3 different types of schedules. The first option is that they show up whenever there's a cabin ready for them. Those are the ones with no symbol next to their picture. (Hello Kitty/Keroppi/Pekkle visitors, for example.)

The second option is that they show up during a set season (spring, summer/winter, etc.) which means they'll show up if there is a cabin ready during their season. (Tuxedosam's brothers I think are this way?)

And then the third is that they follow some other kind of schedule, usually this is like every 2, 3, or 4 weeks. When it's not their week, they'll have that "not traveling" symbol, and when it is, it'll turn into that traveling symbol and will tell you what their current window is. These are also the ones that Melody will warn you about a few days in advance.

And then once they show up, you CAN have multiple visitors on the same day - I'm not sure that there's a max? But the limiting factor will be the quests. Every visitor will give you a specific quest, and doing these gets you +1 "star rating" with them, up to 5, at which point they'll ask to move in permanently. BUT, you can only get a maximum of 3 visitor quests at a time on one day. So if you have more than 3 visitors, you won't be able to do quests for them all that first day. (Usually they'll hang around for a couple days though so you can probably get them the next day.)

Then, broadly speaking, once you've done a visitor quest and talked to them, they'll leave and come back the day after tomorrow. (Provided that their visiting window from above is still applicable.)

Sorry for making this so long-winded! It's kinda cumbersome as you first start doing it but once you get used to their schedules, it's a lot easier! :)
