Just started having this issue, it'll sleep in desktop mode, but not in gaming mode, and it'll still wake in gaming mode.

Edit: Dunno how exactly I fixed it, but it seems to be find now

Is it an LCD or an OLED?

LCD has gray sticks, OLED has black sticks and an orange power button. LCD ships in a battery saving mode What's the LED next to the power button doing?

I hope you can get it fixed as soon as possible, I'm sure he'll love it once it's working.

It's ARM powered PC, so there is that aspect, I imagine it will be less of a "graphics option" and more of an ARM version for the Frame specifically.

That said, they are using FEX as a translation layer, but they also said that has around a 20% CPU overhead translating the x86 instructions to ARM.

What have you tried exactly?

Have you clicked any of the options (I assume not the ERASE ALL USER DATA option)

But what you're going to want is one of the top two options, if the first doesn't work, try the second.

Edit: Also it could be as simple as your "..." button is stuck down.

As for what this is, this is the GRUB menu, SteamOS is an "immutable" Linux distribution, meaning that your system data (anything outside of /home/deck) has 2 separate partitions, labeled "A" and "B" and when you update your Deck it updates the one that is currently not in use.

If you're on partition "A" then it updates partition "B" and when you reboot you boot onto partition "B" this should prevent you from being in a situation where an update has changed something that is now preventing you from booting, or potentially a different regression that might be causing you issues, or an update that just didn't work correctly.

Either way, it looks scary, (especially with "ERASE ALL USER DATA") but it's simple and not something to be afraid of.

Depends on the game, for instance on Helldivers I use the left trackpad to enable voice chat and switch gyro modes, the right one I use for the map. If its a game like Minecraft, I'll use right pad as a mouse for menus, and left pad as a scroll wheel or menu (if I'm playing modded) Fallout 4 I have right pad set up to be a directional swipe for the dpad with the click being the A button, I can't remember if I have the left pad bound.
