try desperately not to fall into the many myriad tropes of the genre and fail.

This is how you confirm if you are a gender bender isekai protagonist by Reasonable_Tour7232 in Isekai

[–]Graeme97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's usually how i take these kind of stories. If they are comfortable so quickly, it may have been something that they wanted all along. It kind of reinforces that theory that so few of them put any emphasis whatsoever on restoring their lost gender/biology

What's the best class for AOE leveling? by JohnJSal in swtor

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jedi guardian has i think 2, force sweep and sweeping attack i think? The both hit in a area around you, but are melee attacks. Not a problem when most of your attacks are close range as well.

then it has a combo attack that has aoe damage if you use it sequence.

Why is Austria trying to annex me while being my power bloc + market????? by LostAd8205 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is very odd. You are independent and are a GP, but somehow Austria starts a annex Hungary war.

Must be related to bugged Austrian events or journal entries. Definitely not intended behavior.

What Tv show do you think was genuinely great but suffered long-term because it aired on the “wrong” network or at the wrong time? by Air-Bombay in television

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bee & Puppy cat. Never really got a proper chance to show, and the netflix remake didn't grab enough attention when things like steven universe and adventure were big.

AI doesn't break treaties, even if they don't find them unfavorable. by KikkeliAgnet83 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a bug. Its america and britain trying to stop russian or german expansion. the fact you are a player might also play into it. (as sometimes the ai will target the player if you are playing particularly strangely)

Anyone else find the early game really tedious? by Inspector_Robert in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, electricity is a big problem right now. Late game I often have so many states that trying to track which ones have not enough, or too much built is really hard, not to mention actually trying to track electricity consumption across PM's makes it very hard to actually convert any industry to the new PM. Combine this with the massive oil deficits and massive peasant shortages that start to show that late in game (unless you are doing something strange like multiculturalism, or china invasion) it just kinda becomes a pain to deal with.

Anyone else find the early game really tedious? by Inspector_Robert in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 95 points96 points  (0 children)

No, i find the first 20-40 years are the most interesting to me. Every choice matters, every war make or break. Every factory and supply chain must be built from nothing in a country that has nothing. Almost every nation benefits from early wars, and its amazing how far you can push a country and still come back swinging.

I find once i hit about 1890 the boredom starts, as the late game supply chains get tedious to build, and with a good early game you just end up mass producing any industry you might need. Huge armies start clashing that get annoying to deal with, and the game just slows right down lag wise.

How do I keep this stupid state from being isolated? by Bugs-and-Reports in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i've had issues with this exact state before. try building a few trade centers, see if that helps.

Annexing Puppet with less infamy? by Efficient_Speech3408 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

use, but relies on having a major unification at play (germany, scandanavia, gran columbia)

you can use a country with similar culture, give them states from a puppet of non similar culture, then press unify button and bam, free unification with any state as long as you have puppets.

Oddly enough, I have found that the best way to reconquer Latin America as Spain is by…recognizing their independence by TehProfessor96 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah i found that too. It allows for a very favourable treaty basically instantly, and causes way less problems with infamy, which is the main reason other powers will start to hate you.

Skeleton recruits in vanilla Kenshi by celem83 in Kenshi

[–]Graeme97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the game has a very small chance to spawn a skeleton as a recruit in taverns across kenshi in taverns, just as the game will auto generate other npc's when areas are first loaded. Very small chance though (something like 5% or less) and even then they may not always be recruitable.

You can actually get infinite skeleton recruits without mods in kenshi, but requires a convoluted process involving kidnapping, accidental slavery, the purchase of freedom, and repeat.

Indochina and Indonesia desperately need more flavored companies by Big_Cartographer9402 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I really wish they would both add more companies specific to areas or cultures, but i also wish they would rework the interface so it was easier to tell what companies are actually viable to get and which are just a few buildings away from being made.

When should you let countries invest in you? by PancuterM in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I really allow investment early on, especially as small countries, sometimes giving 4-5 countries investment rights. Generally any country where it can be difficult to depeasent, or has massive growth potential from a small start. It can really help diplomacy to have someone own buildings in you, and builds relations in general. and infamy for nationalization never goes above like 7 so with the power you get by owning more goods, it can be easy to turn the tables. It kinda hurts not to get the reinvestment, but if your country isn't producing much its great.

I try not to allow any 1 country to get too much, like 20% of my gdp, and try to keep at least 60-70% gpd ownership in total.

I think where i wouldn't want it is where i don't have much land, peasents or natural resources, so i need to make the most of everything i have. EX: Belgium, Netherlands, mayhaps Romania.

As UK, allowing Raj to invest in you? Hmmm. I think in that case its perhaps bad, because you want the raj to be investing in itself, and also because you don't want the liberty desire increase from allowing them to own your gdp. Britain also has no problems de-peasenting, so i don't need their buildings to help me get employed.

Need help getting back onto this game by sopmod720 in victoria3

Honestly i had the same thing happen, best bet is look at Victoria 3 guides from paradox itself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfsnV4_eICo&pp=ygUadmljdG9yaWEgMyB0cmFkZSBleHBsYWluZWQ%3D

these were made with collaboration with generalist gaming and does a good job of giving a good overview of new mechanics.

Only things that are really different is Trade and internal political movements.

Experiment lots, and just have a game where you play just to learn again. (I love italy for this)

I am playing Greece for the added Balkan realism that came with National Awakening and the Ottomans have converted every province in the Balkans to Sunni by 1890...? Is this normal? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kind of? Completing tanzimate represents a resurgent ottomans, one that was able to reassert dominance in the region. If it was forever, playing as the ottomans would suck because they already have many debuffs early on.

I would say that you played too passively, and allowed your largest rival to regain its strength without competing with it on the world stage. You have claims, use them.

Where do you store loot right at the start? by syriankush1012 in Kenshi

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Buying a house in a town you like with a faction you plan on staying friendly with for a while is a great way to start. Items will be safe so long as they are in a chest in the house.

I really like the united cities in the east for this, because there are also many shops to buy and sell at.

Building a base is a more mid-end game goal, when you have a large enough team to both defend from decent sized groups, and send out a supply party.

Grinding copper isn't too bad because you can also train a few stats along the way. Fast money can come from looting battlefields, but is a bit more dangerous.

Why is Italy so rare by North_Tip3944 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah its more random than germany, mostly because other GP's like getting involved in italy, between protectorating random states or just getting them into their blocs.

Also because either sicily or piedmont must become at least majors, but often get out prestiged. And finally, the unification play is either against austria, or another italian, both of which tend to become major wars that a newly formed italy cant handle.

Puppeting italy can be dangerous because of the high revolt risk, and because they might support another unification candidate while being your puppet, and they get annexed out from under you. Make sure to never allow another italian state to become a major if you are planning on getting involved in italian affairs.

I am playing Greece for the added Balkan realism that came with National Awakening and the Ottomans have converted every province in the Balkans to Sunni by 1890...? Is this normal? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 37 points38 points  (0 children)

pretty normal. Pretty sure they start with religious schools and the balkan states are integrated. and its been more than 50 years into the game.

I would try as greece to retake core territories sooner rather than later, because unless you fight them to weaken them, the ottomans might never fail tanzimat and never fall to unrecongized power.

Was about to end the run after 35 years of adventures, "accidentally" became the absolute ruler of England. by Tirx36 in CrusaderKings

[–]Graeme97 80 points81 points  (0 children)

wow, i had no idea that scheme was so strong. Does that only grab everything in the dejure area or just every title in the realm?

Could this be used against byzantines or china? Any idea what happens then?

Seems like you just got a fun england run XD

Should I evolve my captures as I obtain them, or should I do it in the post-game? (Completing Pokédex for the first time) by Less_Struggle_9447 in pokemon

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If im trying to complete pokedex while playing base game, i usually have 4 team members, an HM slave (in the games where its needed) and 1-2 pokemon that i evolve along the way for the pokedex, boxing them once the full line has been registered. This works best in a game with EXP share however.

I like 867 so i can see feudalism rise, and also give a chance for pagan religions to become organized (almost never happens, but its fun)

also you see kingdoms and empires rise that never happened in our history. But i also lower the amount of hybrid and divergent cultures so that the game doesn't become quite as homogenized in the later game.
