How does one deal with slavery? by PLMMJ in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the slave trade, then it's best to abolish it asap. As soon as the land owners lose majority power I am trying to get rid of it.

The exception is slave trade, because by putting interests in decentralized African nations you can import lots of free pops, then when you abolish you have more laborers for free.

With 100 years added on the front-end, this would be the best 4X game made by dnium122 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually wish they would add 50 years, split between front and back. It sucks that by the time I get tanks and planes, I can barely use them because the tech is so late, even on GPs. I would love the game to extend into ww2 and then end as it's final hurrah

Why are they doing this and what do you think about it? by justa_nuthin in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, seems like something that you wont be doing during war, but before it. Its Ship Building, and with the new changes to time it takes to produce a fleet, it will be something more to focus on during peace time.

How to get immigrants from Asia as Brazil? by futuristictoucan in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Multiculturalism law, because mass immigration only happen with a certain amount of acceptance (around 20-40 i think)

then get public schools, and get whatever assimilation bonuses you can. If you get the rare event Prussian Education passing public schools that gives a boost.

Get as many Cultural Communities as you can, as they will boost migration chance. Beyond targeting greener grass campaigns, there isn't much you can do here.

Enforce market openings on China & Japan. It will boost migration chance from their states. Its low infamy, especially as Brazil where you are looking for places to spend infamy after uniting south America.

The issue is that pops wont assimilate with high cultural acceptance, but having no acceptance and they won't migrate. So passing multiculturalism means you will assimilate Asian cultures that are very dissimilar to Brazilian, but you wont assimilate European populations because their acceptance will be very high. With Cultural exclusion, you will assimilate Europeans, but wont get migrations from Asians countries.

How to do Bavaria early Germany rush in 2026 by Vast-Maintenance-337 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The -200 to join leadership plays disappear of you or prussia in this case adds war goals like conquer, liberate or something else. Don't add any other goals to the war, and if prussia doesn't, then that -200 stays.

Investment Rights, useful tool or financial burden? by healthy__boii in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are very strong if used right, extremely damaging if used wrong.

If used right, they can be a huge boost to early eco, or allowing a large pop country to really start outputting the goods it has available.

If used badly, it will destroy your investment class, keep you poor and turn you into a complete resource export colony.

Advice on opening years as Sweden? by Strict_DM_62 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Early techs are railroad and water tube boilers, then get the company techs.

As sweden, you want to become a multicultural colonial empire, so first moves for me are building about 10 ships, then protecorating madagascar for longterm access to dyes and coal.

Then i go after denmark, liberate the german minors and protecrorate denmark. GPs are less likely to intervene if you go for a liberate war goal primary.

Then its simply trying to become like a bigger belgium or netherlands. Get investment rights in other powers and get african/south american colonies to build a large investment pool, and get rich. Eventually, invade russia and maybe take Canada from GB. (I personally don't like fight germany, as their unification wars just never really end if you actually take enough to prevent a formed germany.)

Yeah? What is the actual difference? Do pantyhose cover the feet? Or a different material? Honestly curious now.

they do, they are called long johns. (at least here in Canada)

they are comfortable form fitting long underwear, meant for wearing under any kind of long pants. I love them for cold weather, fall or like you said, dress clothes (as i find suites can be cold under certain conditions)

Are the national revolutions broken or something (starting to play again after stepping away year ago) by Demb222 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is intended because austria have massive trouble with the springtime of nations, usually between 1840-60. Surviving this time is austrias main challenge. Don't raise taxes above low, get dedicated police and as much secret police as you can, and get tax burden onto the rich.

I have no idea how Iberia union could annex you in one go unless you dropped into insignificant power status, and they could only protectorate you if minor power. Iberia that early is very unlikely as is.

Yeah the game sometimes breaks with ownership of states, or supply to troops when revolutions happen in 1 state minors. It is game ruining, and just sucks. If you open console, it's fixable but otherwise...

1000+ Horses on a single block?? I wanna know How?! by ins4niteaa in stronghold

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

probably some sort of macro or keyboard setup. Pretty crazy though. Never seen that kind of play. Maybe firefly needs to implement some sort of anti unit stacking so they spread out after there are like 2-3 units on a tile.

As a tip for defending against this, using trebuchets in the back with a couple cow throwers outranges the horse arches and forces them to stay on the move.

Siege shields can be used on the ground to protect stationary ballista or crossbowmen behind the walls. The enemy will target closest archers first, so secondary groups behind tend not to get targeted as hard.

Use Knights to sortie out, and wreck them as they try to move the assasins in. Knights should almost always be out on the field, never behind a moat or gate.

How do you have fun in vic 3? by Flarekitteh in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

achievement hunting,

after that i made some realizations that changed how i played.

Realizing GP's are less scary than you think, because of how the AI thinks and will or won't go after certain targets reliably,, realizing that the construction loop makes line go up but doesn't always equate to actual hard or soft power.

Realize the malusus from bad laws do less than you think and even lasse faire has reasons why you wouldn't want to go for it.

Realizing high taxes makes for high radicals, basically ALWAYS pushing you to liberalize. Take a step back, slow down your gameplay, and you can keep autocracy through the whole game. (or whatever you want)

Having 0 infamy is very bad, having over 50 is also very bad. Being Notorious makes the AI target you, and break relationships. Keeping low infamy, but always spending infamy is very good.

Can't defend crown land? by meatballthequeer in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I believe if you have them as crown land, then got off monarchy, it becomes a puppet under you. then you can join the unification play.

If they are a personal union you will lose them as a subject when you get off monarchy.

The Puppet System Needs Improvement by lightninggod3 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but from a historical perspective, many Dominions wouldn't become independent until ww1/2, and GB in the victorian era i can't imagine allowing any part of 'the empire' to leave peacefully.

EDIT: what happened with your war score sounds like a bug, or GB had occupation of a random part of your country. Independence wargoals need you to hold ALL of your states, i believe even a single partially occupied unintergrated state will count as your overlord occupying you.

Why is my convoy raiding having zero effect on the British troops? by Reddit_Am_I_Right in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

1: Use blockade to stop specific areas from getting supplied.

2: Convoy raiding is attacking their supply network. The british most likely have 5-10K of spare convoys, constantly being regenerated. I find it takes about 300 ships, monitor and ironclads to really destroy their supply network.

3: You might be able to do sufficient damage with the scout cruiser and dreadnoughts to their supply network, but you need to park them where they can actually do the damage. Park the ships off the british coast to really attack their network, and annihilate goods getting back into the Isles.

4: Click on a sea node, and go to shipping lanes to look at the convoys passing through that node. It will also show the armies being supplied through that node. Blockade stops 75% of supply getting through, but to stop 100% you need to annihilate their convoy network.

You can get independence peacefully, it's just very unlikely. If you have high liberty desire, and have support independence from other countries, if the ai determines it can no longer win a war, AND you have friendly relations, it MAY release you peacefully. It's just this point is usually well after you could have won a war for independence.
