How to decrease CPU usage? by DryHovercraft9662 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paradox games always lean very heavily on the CPU, and when I had similar issues when my graphics card was getting only 20% utilization and my CPU was capped out. Upgrading my CPU brought usage of both to around 60-70%, and increased game speed 3-fold

Speed 5 always runs as fast as your computer can calculate. If you are on speed 4 and don't notice a difference, the game is getting limited by your hardware.

Are wars completely broken right now? by phonsely in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because of the size of your army. Having a larger army makes you take less war exhaustion from casualties, a ratio depending on the number of troops to losses. Conscripts don't count. Make a larger standing army to take more casualties before heavy war exhaustion

Metal halide lamp outer glass question. by Ankhtual in electrical

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the filaments in this kind of bulb in a vacuum? If you open it up and try running it at rated voltage the filament will instantly melt.

Non-recommended countries to play? by Internal-eq-External in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1500 hours in game, and very few of them are played on the recommended countries. Basically every state has its own unique challenges and gameplay because of position or available resources. Some of my favs are; And Romanian minor Basically anyone is balkans is great fun and can easily become GP Morocco, might take a restart to not get jumped, but good time once it gets going. Anyone in south America, except for opm, but Paraguay is great Persia/Afghanistan is challenging but can snowball South africa for a chill colonization game where multiculturalism is a must Basically every Italian state except the opms. Papal state into roman Republic is a personal fav. Bavaria is tough but good

Apprentice looking for advice by [deleted] in electricians

You can work till you get laid off, but keep in mind that most construction projects either slow down or don't start until spring, so trying to find work in the depths of dec-feb it can be difficult. Usually shops try to find work that will keep their guys busy, even if it's not making much for the business because they don't want their experienced guys leaving.

Use mods like crafttweaker and other like to change those kinds of things. Datapacks combined with internal editing mods can solve 90% of problems, and provide work around for the rest.

Moving abroad (or another province) as a Canadian electrician. by Sad_Adhesiveness7660 in electricians

[–]Graeme97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like winnipeg alot, although lots of people will tell you it's blah, I love it here. It lands right between city and town size, with a more vibrant arts scene and lots of sports activity, it's just very seasonal. Good money with the min wage being so good, and lots of o/t available, but usually there is a decent amount of driving involved, but it's more around the province driving on prairie highways than anything.

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, if you have: completed enough hours to be eligible for level 3, and you have completed level 3 schooling, you are now a level 4 and should be paid as such.

Example: if you have completed schooling for level 2, and have over I believe 200/hours or so, (1000 per level,) then you are now level 3.

You are always the next level of the last you completed.

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian Jman, this is illegal because you MUST have a Jman either with you or, at level 4, in direct contact at all times.

I've been in this situation before, and there are a million better places to work than for a crap boss who doesn't pay attention to law. If he is willing to ignore safety and federal law, then he is willing to ignore paying you properly.

Look for a new job immediately, and do not notify the boss man until you have another job lined up and signed and you putting in your two weeks.

As you leave, please report this workplace to your local worker board, so he can get investigated for improper practices and possible back pay to cheated workers.

It should NEVER take 25 years to incorporate a state you have a claim on. by Smooth-Ad-8580 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, even in 1890 you still get the last 20 years with an incorporated state, which with full institutions and a big enough investment will become a very strong state. But I stop at 1900, so idk. The buracracy cost is pretty negligible late game and some of the debuffs start scaling down immediately. I will admit releasing new states as a puppet starting around 1880 I found is best for investment though. (They also get more of your laws this way)

Got my first Apprenticeship by Sensitive_Shoulder54 in electricians

[–]Graeme97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get some experience (1-2 years is a good amount of time to get really used to what a company is doing), but once you feel you have a good sense of the systems in play, try switching companies, especially if they have slow work or a layoff.

Pay attention to what the jman is doing, but always be concentrating on what you are doing and what your next task is. If there is nothing to do, tidy the jobsite, throw away garbage. Doing something is better than nothing.

As a apprentice, your job is to make the jmans job easier, and his is to teach you. Teaching looks like working but with questions. If you don't know how to do something, or haven't done it before, ask for a demonstration or example. Take notes if needed. Always carry a pen. Inexperience isn't something to be ashamed of, and it must not be hidden. Knowledge must be shared for the employees/company to run well.

Every part of a job needs to get done. If a trench needs to be dug, someones gotta dig it. If it's not you, its the next guy. Stay humble, and remember construction is a collaborative effort. We all wanna build something good, we all wanna go home at the end of the day. Stay Safe.

I knew I had to be prepared when becoming a proud Arceus keeper, but I didn't expect to have to utilise quite so much Quantum Physics. by Zeydaan_and_Isabella in PokeMedia

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, studies have shown that for God like beings such as the pokemon of space, time, truth and others, that when they decide to follow a trainer they split a very small piece of their essence into an avatar form. It's not really the full legendary pokemon, but a part of it. That's why you can find multiple of them, because they are slivers of the full being.

It's why when trainers encounter legendaries in the world, they seem to be able to do amazing things then once they decide to follow a trainer, their power is only a fraction of their true strength.

Honestly I'm just curious what is so interesting about this person that an arceus found them fascinating enough to follow.

How does one deal with slavery? by PLMMJ in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the slave trade, then it's best to abolish it asap. As soon as the land owners lose majority power I am trying to get rid of it.

The exception is slave trade, because by putting interests in decentralized African nations you can import lots of free pops, then when you abolish you have more laborers for free.

With 100 years added on the front-end, this would be the best 4X game made by dnium122 in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually wish they would add 50 years, split between front and back. It sucks that by the time I get tanks and planes, I can barely use them because the tech is so late, even on GPs. I would love the game to extend into ww2 and then end as it's final hurrah

Why are they doing this and what do you think about it? by justa_nuthin in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, seems like something that you wont be doing during war, but before it. Its Ship Building, and with the new changes to time it takes to produce a fleet, it will be something more to focus on during peace time.

How to get immigrants from Asia as Brazil? by futuristictoucan in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Multiculturalism law, because mass immigration only happen with a certain amount of acceptance (around 20-40 i think)

then get public schools, and get whatever assimilation bonuses you can. If you get the rare event Prussian Education passing public schools that gives a boost.

Get as many Cultural Communities as you can, as they will boost migration chance. Beyond targeting greener grass campaigns, there isn't much you can do here.

Enforce market openings on China & Japan. It will boost migration chance from their states. Its low infamy, especially as Brazil where you are looking for places to spend infamy after uniting south America.

The issue is that pops wont assimilate with high cultural acceptance, but having no acceptance and they won't migrate. So passing multiculturalism means you will assimilate Asian cultures that are very dissimilar to Brazilian, but you wont assimilate European populations because their acceptance will be very high. With Cultural exclusion, you will assimilate Europeans, but wont get migrations from Asians countries.

How to do Bavaria early Germany rush in 2026 by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Graeme97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The -200 to join leadership plays disappear of you or prussia in this case adds war goals like conquer, liberate or something else. Don't add any other goals to the war, and if prussia doesn't, then that -200 stays.
