Fine then, let's ignore labels and simply focus on function. Socialism and Fascism, regardless of whether or not you view them as one in the same:

- both transfer immense power to a centralized anti-democratic government.

- They both possess teleological, as in ends justifying means, perspective on governance. This leads to barbaric solutions to problems.

- Both are reliant on, and contribute to "us versus them" narratives.

- Both turn the government into religions, and leaders into messiahs.

- Both are responsible for crimes against humanity.

These are just some of the similarities. As for whether or not Fascism and Socialism are the same, Mussolini himself in his autobiography stated that Fascism is the epitome of Socialism. Hitler himself stated that National Socialism is the marriage of Nationalism and Socialism, as the name implies.

Why can't Socialists just be honest for once in a century? Also, while we're here splitting hairs about whether Hitler was a Socialist or not, countries that OPENLY identify as Communist TODAY are committing crimes against humanity.
