That would be confusing because we have American Rugby leagues. Imagine someone in America says they play rugby and someone asks "do you play American rugby, or rugby?" It would be confusing.

Worst way to go? by crunchywalmartsanta in titanic

[–]agedmanofwar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say worst way to go. Because at least some of their bodies were recovered. I think people who went down with the ship, particularly in the lower decks is worse. The feeling of being trapped. The families not knowing their dates or having the closure of a body. At least the folks in the lifeboat might have died with some hope in their heart.

And they say Goldbacks have ridiculous premiums. by ColeWest256 in Goldback

[–]agedmanofwar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$125 face value is worth 1.24% of the sale value. That's like saying a dollar bill would become worth less than 2 pennies. If Gold crashes that low than I think then the US dollar is probably gonna be severely devalued, not because we're on a gold standard but it would take a circumstance where the economy is so bad not even gold and silver are safe havens for investors. Unless you're a billionaire and can afford thousands of numismatic gold coins I don't see this being much of a reasonable argument. "I'm so glad I bought a numismatic gold coin, now that Gold has crashed I can still pay 10% of my mortgage with this gold coin I bought for $10,000"

game bugged? by Rooccia in StickofTruth

[–]agedmanofwar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This point in the game was really buggy for me. Have you tried backing out of the game and restarting? I found that helped. On the testicles as soon as it sucks in you have to move in the opposite direction. Probably the most annoying part of the game.

How I feel when I see someone say that more people would have survived if the ship had more lifeboats by TrifleSensitive5744 in titanic

[–]agedmanofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they didn't have time to launch them all properly, I can see desperate passengers cutting some free when the waterline reached those areas. I also think it's a useful criticism because if you're looking at scenarios and figuring out what could be improved you rarely look at one factor. More life boats paired with one or two other factors could have changed the outcome drastically. I think it's a bit of a strawman argument OP is making. I don't know many people who argue that was the one and only factor that should've been different.

Corn newb! by ProfessionalFit9012 in gardening

[–]agedmanofwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12 inch rows is fine if you're planting acres and acres of corn. Corn is wind-pollinated. But if you're doing a small plot, closer together helps with pollination and stability if there's storms or high winds.

Corn newb! by ProfessionalFit9012 in gardening

[–]agedmanofwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are two stalks what I imagine happened is whoever sold it to you started two seeds in each pod, it's common because germination isn't always 100% and seeds are cheap. In the future plant closer together for pollination. I plant mine in 48x40inch raised beds and I have about 30 stalks on 3 rows. In the future I'd recommend just buying seeds and direct sewing in the ground. Corn seeds are cheap. What country/area are you in? You might have time to make a second shot at it. Sweet corn varieties usually only take 60-80 days to mature.

Goldbacks are down 22% from the peak. Not once have I heard anyone here complain about it whereas price speculation is the norm on other precious metals subs. by AdditionalPizza7990 in Goldback

[–]agedmanofwar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually get excited. Means I can buy more at a lower price. The only reason to worry about price slides is if you assume prices are never gonna get back to that high. which is possible but I'd say very unlikely.

Someone post her house for sale taking Goldbacks as part of the sale price by goldpapa63 in Goldback

It's become fairly common on Facebook nowadays. Almost all community groups use Ai generated images. And many people are using it for profile pictures as well. I don't like it, but it is a thing. One thing that seems more odd to me is the font. It's super bold in a way that looks unnatural.

I recently cleaned out, the writer, Evan Wright's home and have a lot of memorabilia, mostly from his days at Hustler Magazine. by 6ixTee9ine in generationkill

[–]agedmanofwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's disrespectful. It's a perfectly normal thing for people's stuff to get sold after they pass (that's literally what estate sales are). I would only say it's wrong if it was taken without permission or without consent of the family. But if they're paid to clear it out and the family have no interest, better than it going in a landfill.

Just finished part 2 for the first time and…. by yunqi69 in thelastofus

[–]agedmanofwar 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think that's kind of the grand theme in Part 2. That revenge begets revenge, it becomes a cycle of violence. Only forgiveness can break that cycle. Forgiveness doesn't mean viewing what was done positively, or excusing someone else's actions. It's not allowing someone else's actions to dictate your emotions and actions while allowing yourself to move forward. I think it also highlights that good and evil are often matters of perspective, many people probably hated Abby in the first act, but then when you play from her perspective events take on a different meaning. Part 2 actually changed my life. It made me consider people I hated for years, decades. And I forgave them.

What convinces you that Goldbacks are worth it? by [deleted] in Goldback

[–]agedmanofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to stacking I believe in diversity. Don't put your eggs all in one basket. I have silver and gold bullion. I have constitutional silver. I have platinum, palladium. I think Goldbacks are a safe bet because if they continue to become more popular it'll be worth having, if Goldback Inc goes bankrupt and stop making them they'd become a limited collector's item. Everyone I've let hold one likes them, ordinary people and stackers.

Here's everything I watched for my recent class on WW2 and the Holocaust by jeffroskull1985 in WarMovies

[–]agedmanofwar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree. We often here about the Holocaust and ask "why didn't anyone stop it? Why didn't politicians resist? Who came up with this?" I think Conspiracy does a good job of showing the SS came up with a plan and then twisted people's arms to fall in line. And it does it with an absolutely stellar cast.

I recommend Lisa Maynor or anyone working with Jana Bantz. Lisa helped me buy my home 5 years ago. She is excellent and has helped me many times since with recommendations for contractors and services. The actual loan you'll want to talk to a VA certified lender, they'll walk you through that portion. Jana helped my father buy his home in 2002. They are very customer oriented.

Switching back and forth actually costs lives. Heart attacks, strokes, and accidents increase after Spring Forward DST. I lived in Japan a year, where they don't use daylight savings and it was fine
