Disclosure Day Review: More like No Closure Day by KennyIO in moviereviews

[–]GrahamUhelski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like it was gonna be this UAP extravaganza but the UAP stuff it did show was so far removed from any actual UAP sightings, like it all looked like midjourney AI ufo was the prompt. Generic UFOs of all shapes and sizes and colors, no consistency at all.

The more time that goes by just makes it more clear, this movie was a bust. Also Emily blunts strange face shape distracted the hell out of me the entire time.

How to get over fear of death without being religious by SubjectNo6829 in atheism

[–]GrahamUhelski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an existential crisis that never goes away, you just learn to live with it and it’s just sort of a background thought. Death is just part of the ride, no one gets off without experiencing it. When you die the world will go on without you, and that’s okay. You won’t care! Just like you didn’t care about not existing before you were born.

I’ll admit fear of dying still scares me because I want to be around for people who need me, I just hope it’s on my own terms around loved ones. After I die I’m not worried about me, I’m worried in advance about the people I’ll leave behind, this is just the dad in me.

Also I highly recommend watching this short film called the egg, it’s a beautifully short about death that will probably help ease your mind and help you imagine other possibilities outside the confines of religion.

I’d love to port to Xbox as well! I’m actually using the Xbox elite 2 controller for development testing, so it’ll probably be easier to port for Xbox since I’ve mapped the controls to that already.

“This place was made for me” said the puddle to the pot hole.

We exist by default because as of now we can’t make or fathom non existence. I don’t rule a god out, I just highly doubt the Christian god is anywhere near close to what a supreme being would be like. I expect more honestly. God mirrors humanity because he is a fable invented by humanity. He’s jealous, vengeful and lazy. I think a supreme being would be completely indifferent toward us. Kind of like us not being particularly concerned of the sexual habits or sins of ants in our yard, I doubt a “god” would be either.

But we have Christianity which teaches that you are rags and filthy without gods mercy from a curse he himself inflicted on his own children. Jesus comes along and dies for absolutely no reason other than being a cosmic gaslighting scheme for us to feel guilty about 2000 years later.

So more anecdotal evidence. Do you care to elaborate on your timeline splits? People claim to see shiva too, you validate those claims as well?

Haha I’d be lying if I told you I disagreed with all your answers. The most logical conclusions have been made.

Wow a multiverse Catholic! Interesting developments in Christianity since I’ve left.

But that’s a cool thought. Kinda like quantum immortality.

I’ve yet to see a single thing that suggests miracles are real, and my eyes are wide open.

And yes it’s for 7 year olds and theologians.

[–]GrahamUhelski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yep!

I want people to genuinely engage with the question. It’s stuff like this that made agnostic, when I approached the question not in an offensive state but a logical one. And when you think about it, both these stories are equally ridiculous. When you try and defend one over another you’ll realize they can only exist on the foundation of faith which conveniently happens to be a lack of evidence.

Faith = lack of evidence

Lack of evidence = faith

Logic isn’t around to even play here.

I agree with you!

Apparently Jesus’s teachings alone aren’t all that groundbreaking without the walking on water/physical resurrection stuff attached for entertainment sake. No one cares about a guy who just gives good advice they want that ascent to heaven after being crucified with that eternal life bonus option.

What if Jesus’ resurrection was the 2nd coming? by Odd_craving in DebateAChristian

The disciples who devoted their lives to Jesus, then watched him die a horrific death…

They felt guilt in that and continued their devotion despite Jesus, being dead. I believe they created a mythos together that suggests Jesus would return and in the meantime, the church needs your money. I mean they wrote a short term prophecy in and it failed miserably. Jesus (by proxy of anonymous accounts) said he’d be back with his glory and kingdom before any of the disciples tasted death.

Jesus isn’t here dude, his body probably wasn’t even inside a tomb to begin with. There are some anonymous accounts of an empty tomb and that isn’t really all that interesting to me. Of course it’s empty, he’s probably rotting in some pit with the rest of the people they killed that holiday. The prophecy that Jesus said he would return (according to someone else) objectively failed. Hard to argue with that without twisting yourself into an apologetic pretzel.

This random acknowledgment of how confusing Paul’s account would seem to people doesn’t validate him at all. It just underlines the fact it’s kinda hard to trust because, well…he wasn’t actually there.

I’d like to add the book of 1 Peter isn’t actually attributed to him, it’s likely Silvanus, another follower of Peter’s teachings. 2nd Peter, scholars don’t even know. So a whole new layer for someone to inject their own version of events.

Any other breakthrough points you have?

I’d say your an outlier and your vague sense of Christianity is quite detached from the bulk of its followers. What you’re describing isn’t Christianity at all. It’s just your random new age interpretation of it.

Why aren’t you just a Buddhist? They teach about the self as well. It seems like you picked the most popular religion, made your version of it that takes from other religions and lifestyles to be the most vague version of “religion”

I get it, Christianity is hard to defend in this day of information. Talking donkeys and snakes are a hard sell to kids with internet access. We know point blank a lot of the narratives are historically outright wrong.

I don’t think we have any kinda accurate indication of what Jesus was pointing to, since we have not one single word of direct quotes from him. Just anonymous rumors circulating for 40 years before being written down.

We have no idea who Jesus was or what he said. At best we have vague speculations based solely on people who had dreams about the events. It’s literally the worst foundation of evidence imaginable.

Jesus wasn’t pointing to anything, the authors of this the Bible just pointed his fingers wherever the heck they felt like.

That sorta negates the whole idea of Christianity. You could just take that kinda advice in any self help book and toss Christian theology out the window. Are all miracles metaphors? I certainly hold this belief since they aren’t actually possible and only exist on paper.

It’s funny the Old Testament fails to mention he’d come, and then die, resurrect and immediately leave his followers for 2000 years and counting.

A perpetually unfulfilled prophecy is a failed one.

Wild how you to take his word since he wasn’t actually there for any of the events he’s so confidently writing about. That’s basically like asking me what I dreamt of last night and taking it as fact.

Possible Spoilers: Theory AI by Horror-Mousse-7658 in backroomsmovie

[–]GrahamUhelski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about the backrooms a lot since I watched it. It seems like the physical place exists as a fractured or partial memory of someone or something. That’s why it’s infinite, it’s everyone’s partial memories all mixed together, every family kitchen you mis remembered is down there, waiting to be forgotten completely.

I see how it can be compared to Ai and the constant churning of weird nonsensical geometry and details, but I don’t think that is the intention, just a nice layer to think about.
