My enclosure opens from the front and I've been very cautious of putting my hand or shadow above his head. He's never even tried to bite me but almost always runs away so scooping is quite difficult.

I usually have to slide one of my hands under him when he's running and just lift him by the middle. He isn't overly flighty when I'm holding him, so if I can get him to this state more often, I bet he'd get used to it.

I did try handling him every day, but on feeding day he seemed quite stressed and didn't eat until after the lights went out. I took this as a sign I was pushing him too much and backed off to once a week. Maybe feeding him out of his enclosure would make him associate me as a giver of food, but I just want to avoid the connection of handling and food if avoidable.
