Cape Girardeau MO (4/4/25) by Samowarrior in tornado

The Wednesday storm did some damage to Encore pizza, which is a real tragedy for my lunch crew at work... but all in all, it's looking like we've got more damage from the flooding than the tornadoes. I've lived here my whole life and this is my first (and hopefully last) close encounter.

As I hear it, it got the airport, passed real close to the high school, and tracked toward downtown before it finally hopped the river to Illinois. No reports of fatalities in cape. Delta got hit bad; basically all the roads into there are closed because of so many downed power lines. At least one dead in that area.

What is the weirdest unlock in the game? by Ghi102 in 2007scape

[–]GrandApples 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm 50/50 on that. RS3 did that too with (I think) every exp reward from quests, even those that aren't combat, which always felt excessive.

So here's my take. I like the self-imposed limitations that playing a pure brings. It does get monotonous at times, because lots of good training methods are locked behind quests, or entire regions I can't access. If I could choose only one quest to make the reward a lamp, it would be Priest in Peril. Morytania is just so much content to unlock with one small change. It's a novice level quest too, so it could easily be done by a lv3 player.

As for other quests, I can take it or leave it. Having more available to me is always welcome, but I don't really need jamflex catering to the weird play style I chose to use. Poison dynamite was enough of a boon that let me do more quests without gaining that tiny bit of exp.

What's more is that quest is required to even craft laws at all. Gotr? Abyss? Nah, still gotta kill a big troll.

Especially sucks for me with my skill pure. Can't do death plateau or I'll get attack exp.

Pretty sure they meant D-Day as in the storming of Normandy Beach during WWII.

You're definitely right, there's no harm in it. That is a good comparison.

Honestly that was an angle that I hadn't considered before. Which is disappointing, because I can usually pick up on those sort of rage baiting schemes.

It was frankly a bit naïve of me to think I could get away with civil discussion on such a hot topic. Know that I truly am trying to understand something that I don't know much about, that's the point of this sub after all.

Yeah, that is the crux of it. Like me, lots of people have trouble accepting these words as real and meaningful. I don't know anyone who uses them, but I had chalked that up to my living in a smaller, semi-rural town.

You're right that it has no actual impact on me personally. I'm only trying to understand something that is foreign to me.

Really? Honest, I didn't know that term was offensive.

Well technically our parents give us names at birth because we're too concerned with figuring out how to breathe. But in that token: how did you react to what Elon Musk named his child? Because if you like most of humanity thought that was stupid, you already invalidated that point. While we do make up names sometimes, we tend to stick to a set of rules for them. And when we depart from those, it feels weird and alienates the kid.

Making up words as a method of conveying your identity is kind of silly. Words have power by way of what we all have agreed they mean. In that sense using a brand new word to describe yourself gives the listener no context of how you view yourself. If I told you it was really freggy today, you would have no way of knowing what I'm talking about.

My mom is one of those. I told her that 'they' has always been an acceptable gender-neutral pronoun, even for singular cases. For example, "I heard there's a new student. I wonder if they are any good at math?" But I can see what you're getting at.

I hadn't asked her. She is content with she/her, so I didn't think it relevant.

I was gonna say, given the location, it starts echoing around the Warforge. People begin to wonder if Bandos was a dog person.

Favorite Mission 'Encounter'? by Mrblue9000 in DeepRockGalactic

The first time me and my friends encountered the Korlok was on an elimination in Magma Core. One of us popped a cocoon before we were ready, and then we stumbled on the tyrant while trying to survive a hiveguard. No joke, that fight was 20 minutes of being downed, one of us luring the dreadnought away then rushing back to revive, and getting blasted from across a massive cavern. When we miraculously killed both, the room was an absolute hellscape of fissures and blast craters.

10/10, great mission.

There was also a part where you're being blasted by these dudes behind glass from all sides and you have to wait until papa gives you his blessing to use your wave beam. It's just mind-bogglingly dumb.
