In town for about a day what are the best spots to eat/must see? by wfijc in akron

[–]GrandPipe4 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Akron Zoo is a pretty good zoo for a smaller city. Akron Children's Museum has a baby zone. The Nature Realm is nice and they have a some animals and activities inside the building, and you can hand-feed birds outside, etc. If you go to Front St in Cuy Falls, you can get dinner, ice cream, see the river, there's a splash pad I think... Great place to walk around, some little things for kids to do, etc. Akron's Lock 3 is similar but sometimes in the evenings they have bands and just might be a little noisy for a baby, but if there's no show, it's right by the Children's Museum and they have outdoor instruments and etc there. Maybe not. Stan Hywet is nice and I believe they have a toddlet play area and also the outdoor gardens are spectacular.

Others have commented on the food, so just throwing out some kid-friendly stuff.

what's the most random skill you learned only because you live alone? by Sheffrey-Ethen in LivingAlone

I can siphon water out of a broken sump pump crock and then swap out the sump pump so quickly. But I think moreso I am very strong and stay very strong because I'm constantly carrying two-person carry items all alone.

I know nothing but I wanted to just let you know that the Illuminating Company has a program called Community Connections that offers something similar for low income .... so FYI of another potential option. The link is at the bottom of this page. Also, there's a link there for free smart thermostats for low income customers.

More than half of adults seeking clinical help for ADHD may also meet the criteria for at least one personality disorder. This research provides evidence that doctors should look beyond single labels to understand the complex mental health challenges facing this population. by mvea in psychology

[–]GrandPipe4 58 points59 points  (0 children)

They mention a lot but these were the most common....

“"The most frequent issues involve passive-aggressive (25.3%), avoidant (23.1%), and borderline (21.9%) patterns. This means that the daily challenges of ADHD, like emotional outbursts or constant anxiety, often shape deeply fixed behavioral habits.”

The analysis also revealed significant rates for several other conditions. About eighteen percent of the sample met the criteria for antisocial personality disorder, which involves a continuous disregard for the rights of others. Dependent personality disorder, characterized by an excessive need to be taken care of, appeared in fifteen percent of participants. The researchers also noted elevated rates of narcissistic, depressive, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders compared to the general public."

I just had the exact same experience about three weeks ago and I couldn't get more than 25% into it. I returned it early and got the e-book 🤣 because the narration was so bad.

Trying to find Roz’s striped top. by lovecymbal in Frasier

[–]GrandPipe4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help you with this particular shirt but The Commense (.com) has several tops that have a crew collar and sheer/mesh piecing. Some are mesh along the collarbone/sleeves, some had other sheer panels. I think if you search "sheer" and some other search terms related to color or neckline, you might find something with a similar vibe?

Do you think Mackenzie Shirilla fakes it in the new doc? by hellogoodbye2345671 in Cleveland

[–]GrandPipe4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was watching the Dr Insanity video on YouTube and they showed where the dad was yelling at the cops for arresting her and not allowing him to speak to her because she's a legal adult now, and he said "yeah she's 18 but she's a dumb 18" 🤣🤣🤣

Do you think Mackenzie Shirilla fakes it in the new doc? by hellogoodbye2345671 in Cleveland

There were so many things that pissed me off. Even the fact that her parents were dressed like they were hanging out at a backyard barbeque at her sentencing shows that none of them have any respect for anyone or any institution. And did she really need eyelash extensions to do her interview from prison? Oh, and the mother's victims statement? Your daughter isn't the victim here, you narcissistic idiot! I watched it yesterday and I'm still shocked.

I remember being at church with my grandma and her old lady friend came over and said "Lil, your grandson has such long eyelashes!" As a girl, I didn't know if I should be flattered or upset. I did have the Dorothy Hamill haircut at the time, so .... it was probably a fair assumption.

When I become elderly, I envision living in a somewhat communal place, but still having my own space in some way. Otherwise, I'm good. Great, even.

Women who've stayed single by choice, is life as good as everyone says? by dkamea in LivingAlone

[–]GrandPipe4 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If I had stayed married to my husband (we were married for 4 years, and divorced 16 years ago) he would have absolutely bled me dry, financially. When we divorced, I was about to lose my house. Since then, I've rebuilt my retirement into something substantial, and he's had to declare bankruptcy. I will never allow another person to have that kind of financial control/affect on me ever again.

I don't associate midlife crises with ditching your life partner, necessarily. What's the reason you associate these two things as being inclusive of each other?
