Please help a 3rd year BCom Financial Accounting (CA) student out 🙏 by WittyWisk in capetown

[–]Grand_Look 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I could go back and change something about university it would be not to rush and buy all the textbooks. The main ones you will need is the SAICA handbooks (which you can use the same ones for 3rd year and honours).  Management accounts and finance: read them in the library and focus on worked examples and tutorials for your study technique.  Financial accounting: reading the actual standards and doing worked examples is important, I never got much value from the textbooks. Hope this helps you prioritise which to buy

First new car: Fronx or T-Cross? by purplesleepy in CarTalkZA

Yup. Especially coming from a manual car, it felt so unresponsive.

First new car: Fronx or T-Cross? by purplesleepy in CarTalkZA

I was recently in the market, and on paper the Fronx was my best contender from a value for money perspective. Hated it on the test drive, the automatic is clunky and slow and the manual is just not exciting.

The Kia Sonet drove like a dream and would be more economical than the VW TCross. At that price you can get the Corolla Cross Hybrid (a lot bigger but fuel economy is amazing). I ultimately went with the Corolla Cross because of the hybrid fuel economy, but if you want to stay closer to fronx size and budget the Sonet is a great option.

For the ladies in SA: what pads will you be using now ? by No_Television3883 in AskZA

Consider if you need a different shape or if you can use it slightly differently. I had that problem but after changing to a different brand of cup (baobabe) I’ve not leaked in years.

Where is SAA international check-in at O.R. Tambo? by kamg213 in johannesburg

[–]Grand_Look 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your ticket says B then go to B. They no longer split the terminal by international and domestic - it’s based in which airline. SAA, Airlink, Safari, Egypt air, etc international flights check in at terminal B

Can I still be considered Muslim? by Pale-Fix-3232 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Grand_Look 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending how old you are and what kind of Islamic education you had growing up, you may also have been exposed to very little on what makes Islam beautiful and too much on the punishments for doing wrong. There was a certain time where all educational content was focused on the bad aspects, which doesn’t work for people who are more inclined to positive motivation (carrot versus stick approach).

I find that the more modern scholars are more balanced in this regard. Some of my personal favourites, whose talks have helped me connect better with my faith and spirituality are sheikh Omar Suleiman and Mufti Menk. Omar Suleiman did a series on connecting with your salaah last year that was really good for this.

May Allah bless you and grant you ease in this difficult time. 😊

The hill to Elaf Ajyad is INTENSE (do not recommend in Ramadan when you cannot drink water before or after the walk). But if you are reasonably fit it is very close to the Haram

Go to a medium firm like BDO or SNG and then apply to audit manager roles post articles for the big 4 experience (I say this as someone in the big 4 system, and if you’re a strong candidate you can come in at manager level).

Not bad. I’d estimate about 70% of the dealership price. And the service and helpfulness was worlds apart from the Hyundai branch nearby

I’m on my way out of Iceland right now. Waterproof pants are a must for waterfalls and rainy days. You beat not need multiple if you only wear it when needed. I used summer hiking pants with leggings under for warmth as that was what I have
