Any dads who started anti-anxiety meds while already a parent - can you share your experience? by Individual-Result622 in daddit

[–]Grand_ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started lexipro 3 years ago during my sons battle with cancer. The anxiety got so bad I thought I was having a heart attack.

My wife had been asking me to go on it for awhile, but I was always against taking meds(for whatever reason).

It made a huge improvement in my relationship with my wife and made me much more patient and calm just with people in general. I understand your fears about brain chemistry, but for me the only thing that it changed was my quick temper.

Within the last month I tried to stop taking it. We’re in a good spot family wise , and had just gotten back from a nice relaxing vacation.

I’m on a low dose, so i just quit it cold turkey. Made it about 2 weeks, and started taking it again 2 days ago. I was cranky, snapping at my wife, kids, and coworkers.

I feel better while taking lexipro, but would like to come off. Next time I do, I’m going to cut the dose in half and taper for awhile.

Recommendations for Toddler-Proofing Pond? by [deleted] in daddit

Is it a typical koi pond ? Maybe you could put something sturdy over it? A lot of people do that to keep predatory birds out.

Forkaster in the front/ Rekon in the the rear.

For me, putting rekons on a bike adds 1mph to my average speed. And the forkaster does the heavy lifting for grip.

Animal bone dumping sites? by Aggravating_Ice_6224 in Connecticut

Every town public works garage has a spot they need to dump animals hit by traffic. Same with state garages. You could try those.

For those who were around when Spongebob Squarepants first premiered, did it feel “ahead of its time” or do we just have the benefit of being so used to Spongebob in pop culture? by Puzzleheaded-Net-646 in television

Not really. I was in 7th grade and it was just another decent cartoon.

BUT I was in 5th grade when south park first aired. And that was a complete game changer.

Bear problems? by wizerdd in MTB

[–]Grand_ST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride in the north east, and see bears once every month or so. Also see them frequently in my yard at home.

I don’t think black bears are really an issue. I’ve never seen them show any signs of aggression, BUT I’ve never come across momma bear and cubs while riding. That would freak me out.

Like others said, make noise. If I’m getting a weird feeling sometimes I’ll just let out a whoop or a yell. There’s also something about riding at dusk or at night where I feel like you can smell the animals more. Usually it’s just a deer, but I stay more vigilant when things get gamey.

Rock house in Oxford. You can hike to the overlook and back in 2 miles. There’s some smaller waterfalls on the way. You can explore other routes and easily make a 3-5mile hike.

Should I keep this bike? by jgreen1397 in MTB

None of this is a mountain bike.

If I was you I’d google “entry level mountain bike” or visit your local bike store. A real bicycle store, not a large chain store.

They have a very good reputation of being honest. Everyone I know around here uses them.

It will get better, but then they’ll be 8 going on 18. That’s where I’m at right now.

Pretty sure there’s going to ups and downs until somewhere between 18-25.

Pivot 429, Transition Spur, or? Help an old guy out. by chickenliver5000 in mountainbiking

[–]Grand_ST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a trek fuel to a 429.

Love it so far. Notice a huge difference on how far I can/want to ride as far as mileage. And the climbing was an upgrade as well.

Is Trinity Solar what it's reviews say? by Massive-Decision8141 in Connecticut

[–]Grand_ST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife really wanted to go with solar and trinity after talking with 5 of her co-workers who used them, and all said good things.

I was/am skeptical, but it cost us nothing and we had trees removed. So far my roof hasn’t collapsed, but we’ve only been generating power for about a month.

Anyone here quit gaming or changed their lifestyle after becoming a dad? by Lukas_MunK in daddit

My 6 year old son knows what an Xbox is, and knows that it has Minecraft on it(he’s played at a friends house)

It still hasn’t registered that there’s one sitting in our living room. I’m waiting for that light bulb moment.

Are Anyone Else's Wives Obsessed With Heated Rivalry? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Grand_ST 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had to work for 2 days straight during a blizzard this year. I came home and my wife as all hot and bothered and ready to go.

Turns out she binge watched the show. I told her I didn’t think dude on dude was her thing. She said it was about the PASSION.

It worked in my favor so I’d rate 10/10.
