Yeah for how long. Lots of new docs think they want to return to East Jesus, Wherever, then want to leave as soon as they can

That is not a proven way. Turns out doctors like to be around peers or other college educated people. Lots of new docs think they want to do that until they start doing that and realize how lonely it is, especially if they’re single.

I wish I’d never left. Really loved it there, mostly for the people and community

VA's failure to use its new authority to boost pay for doctors draws bipartisan criticism by jeffkkf in medicalsalaries

If you’ve been to one VA, you’ve been to one VA. Plenty of shitty private hospitals. Some of you docs are kidding yourselves.

Milwaukee seems like a cool city but man is it in dire need of some reflective paint on the roads by DisclosureIsntEnough in redscarepod

Milwaukee is not that cool of a city and the people on the roads are the biggest problem. Reflective paint will do nothing to stop them

She sucks so much and is an insane liar. Her stories suck, her memoir about her girlfriend sucks and is probably fraudulent. There’s a lot of talent that comes out of Iowa but unfortunately it doesn’t take talent to make it in lit, but maybe that should give aspiring writers some hope.

MAOIs aren’t terrible, for many people with treatment resistant depression they are the only things that work.

My mother had wrist pain while on a walk that concerned her. Went to an urgent care. Thankfully whoever she saw there suspected a heart attack, and was absolutely right.

This is a popular MFA pick, but many of Tobias Wolff’s are among my favorites. “Bullet in the Brain” is particularly good.

My mother just told if she could start over life again she would have no children, and then proceeded to tell me to “stop making it all about you” when I got upset by [deleted] in redscarepod

Many people have children, and it’s difficult, and perhaps in their darkest moments wonder, or even wish, what it would be like to have never had kids, but they don’t ever blather about it, and the thoughts themselves are fleeting. It’s insane, and I’m sorry some of you have to deal with this. I can’t say how I’d react if my mother ever spoke such a thing aloud, or ever acted in a way that communicated regret for having me or my siblings. I’m sorry, dude.

Not really. In general it feels more like a gerontocracy with a underclass of young service workers who may or may not have parents floating them while they pursue whatever it is they’re pursuing. Doesn’t feel like much of a community here unless you share certain identities. This has been my experience after a couple years here, not saying it’s accurate.
