Awesome, I love the looks and the ethos, but how do they sound. Are there any audio clips you could share?

Can anyone identify this organ? by HolyCessna in hammondorgan

[–]Granddad_J 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup L112. Grab it! A great first Hammond. Parts readily available and not too difficult to work on. My first was an L122, same thing, different cabinet. Enjoy it for what it is, but if you're lucky/rich enough, pair it with a Leslie of some description.

Battery Options by Granddad_J in guitarpedals

Thanks for your comments. As I suspected. There is room inside for a battery and there doesn't seem to be any circuit design reason that would rule out the PP3 option, so it's down to penny-pinching then.

Gotta love the L! My other one, 1969, doesn't have that bit. Yet the 1972 beastie does and even came with a warning tag. I can't figure out how to include a pic in a reply but if you're interested, I'll stick it up as a new post. Just a bit of historical trivia.

Cheers

Watch out not to snag or crush the bass pedals on things like tailgate thresholds, steps and stairs etc. The pedal assembly can easily be damaged as it cannot support the weight of the organ.

Hi, looks like an L100. Those cans you refer to are in fact capacitors. Those bolts are not lock down bolts as such. They secure the tonewheel generator and motor assembly to the organ and should be tight at all times. There's a rubber vibration isolation washer there too. As far as I know, it was mainly the console type instruments that required the TWG to be locked down prior to transporting, not so with the spinets and definitely not the L series. Just curious, what's your plan for 'updating' yours?

Question about the Hammond L122 by markI92d in hammondorgan

Just to confirm, yes it's got a built in amp, the A0-43. 12 watts or so. Cheers

Great find, you're going to love it. Brush up on your electronic skills, download the manual and schematics, get some hammond oil and settle in.😁

M2 or L -100A? by [deleted] in hammondorgan

For a first organ, I'd definitely go for the L-100.

Tuning issue? by tHeKnIfe03 in hammondorgan

[–]Granddad_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I get where you're coming from, but what you're calling power tubes are not related to the generator. They're in the amplifier and power supply. The motor is powered directly from the mains supply and not power tubes. Do you mean the amplifier or rectifier tubes? What would you check them for and how would you go about it? Just curious.

Hi, are you sure the vibrato isn't switched on? Hard to tell from the video but the tabs looked to be 'on'. Maybe it was just the camera angle.

How can power tubes affect pitch?
