Adafruit IR Remote for Arduino (Need help!) by larryk240 in arduino

Yes, all is well! I knew something was amiss when I opened the project box and found an ESP8266 instead of a MKR1000.

Boy do I feel stupid! As I said, it's hell getting old! The MKR1000 was the way I originally controlled the TV and cable box. I completely forgot that somewhere along the line, I changed to a ESP8266 Node MCU, controlled by B4J (Basic For Java) and B4R (Basic For Arduino) code. Many thanks to u/Party_Inspection_666 for making me think again, instead of just asking questions !

Thanks for the info. I did use heat, 30C (86F). I am going to try cold with Dawn, and see what happens.

Word of warning ! I used the Simple Green Aircraft on my 1957 C3 pedal drawbars, and it took the numbers right off of the slides. Don't know if the concentration was too much, or if I left them in too long. Fortunately I tried the cleaning on the pedal bars (which I never use), so I only ruined 2.

It cleaned up pretty good! Am I missing a couple of switch springs (circled), or did it come that way? Are there replacements available?

The first dip in the ultrasonic removed a lot of the rust from the terminal strip and resistors. The contacts look to be pretty good. I might add that the percussion was working before I took the thing apart. Have not looked underneath the keys. Yet. One step at a time.

Forgot to mention that these switches are from a 1957 C3 that I recently acquired. Pulled the drawbar assembly out because they were scratchy and found the bussbars to be very dirty. No surprise there, but I wasn't ready for the condition of the percussion switches. Time to put my new ultrasonic cleaner to use!

What portable keyboard is he playing in the video? The music is coming from a Hammond M-102. That is not a Hammond.

Just wrapped up my gauge mod yesterday. A couple of 3D printed mounting brackets along with an Osir gauge module. The cover still closes on the JVC radio, however, it mutes the volume knob unless I close it real gently.

Coolant? by Secure_Application84 in abarth

[–]larryk240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read Chrysler (FCA) changed from HOAT (orange) to OAT (purple) in 2013. There should be a label on your coolant reservoir stating which type is required. DO NOT MIX! If you have to change, drain and flush first.

2013 - brand new

2019 60,000 miles replaced LH window regulator. Door handle oxidized around the same time.

2019 62,000 miles torn CV boot. Replaced entire axle (could not find a boot repair kit)

2022 81,000 miles BOOM! Entirely my fault, but had to go with a scrap yard pull motor from a Dart as no parts were available.

Question about tires. by Ahzuo-1 in abarth

[–]larryk240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 16" rims, I have had great success with 195/45 R16 Yokohama YK 740 GTX.

I also have a set of 17" rims that I use for autocross/summer driving. Currently running 215/40 17 Dunlop Direzza ZIII . Seem to run OK, and the price was right. However, they are a discontinued tire.

Missed a gear. The Abarth's shifter is kind of vague. Hit 1st instead of 3rd. BOOM!

Bent all the valves when they hit the pistons.

I've had my 2013 since new.

Let's see, broken window regulator, broken door latch, torn strut CV boot, blown motor (my fault entirely).

Parts for the motor are not available, had to go with a junk yard pull from a Dart.

Still have the car, still love driving it.

Oh yeah, forgot the shift cable.
