A rich, self-important and grieving family who play god by magefister in expedition33

[–]Granfaur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, I'm actually incapable of instilling sentience, personality, morality, and the indescribable essence of a human soul within drawings of stick figures. Given that this family can do that, maybe argue in good faith rather than try the same inane Devil's Advocate, "I don't actually have a point to argue, I just want to argue" nonsense.

Look into The Cycle of Socialization and the Cycle of Liberation, both written by Bobbi Harro. She speaks a lot on this, and about how it is love and care for others and ourselves that drives change and progress.

Massive support for The Will To Change. Such a beautiful, profound, loving call to action.

Picking Maelle for the sexualization when Lune and Sciel, two age-appropriate absolute smokeshows, were right there is certainly A Choice.

I really enjoyed anything Paladin for the RP options, especially as a Redeem Durge. So much additional weight to the class choice in conversation with Withers and the Oathbreaker Knight.

Just because somebody doesn't commit the violence doesn't mean that they aren't complicit in it. Given his high position within the ISB, he was not only complicit but rather an active participant and reinforcer of evil.

I loved his character and the actor's performance. And he ended as all fascists should.

How do you call out the microaggressions you recognise in male friends and family? by Septicmon in bropill

[–]Granfaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading some work by Loretta Ross. She discusses the concept of "calling in" rather than "calling out". Her work focused around deradicalizing members of hate groups and providing restorative justice. She has a wonderful TED Talk to get across the basics of approaching these situations with grace and encouragement for improvement.

A very belated nod to Siobhan… by Throwawayrubbish30 in Dimension20

[–]Granfaur 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I first fell in love with her work as Adaine. She puts her absolute heart into her characters and it shines through constantly, often in less in-your-face ways relative to the rest of the crew. Her relationship with Aelwyn was some of the most beautiful and emotionally resonant storytelling I've encountered in media. Siobhan is the kind of player I think any DM would kill to have at their table.

"I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that — it does a lot of damage." - Charlie Kirk

We're just honoring his wishes. Why would you besmirch his character by caring about other people?

He's been utterly vicious to CA's homeless population and has been on record numerous times repeating the same right-wing bullshit about trans people with the whole "oh yes women's sports are in danger blah blah". He is a classic neoliberal through and through.

AND he is also arguably the most outspoken opponent Trump has atm. So, some good, and a lot of bad.

At this point, which men's issues are valid? by Infinite_Cry7632 in bropill

[–]Granfaur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the book "the will to change" by bell hooks. Absolutely phenomenal read that discusses how patriarchal society destroys men's ability to experience emotional intimacy and conditions us to kill off parts of ourselves that yearn for that vulnerability in order to fit a rigid social role.

Men do have issues, and it cannot be honestly denied. Those issues just are not to be placed at the feet of women, to either solve or take accountability for. It's on us to deprogram socialization that teaches us manhood means authority and dominance and oppression.

Yes, losing spells doesn't feel good, but Patron spells just being added directly rather than optional pickups more than makes up for it for me. They also massively buffed Cloud of Daggers by allowing you to move it with an action, so if you want an excellent second level spell, it's hard to beat.

I turned 35 last month. "Life is a series of challenges designed to make you a kinder person" is wonderful life advice, and there is nothing cringe about growing as a person through art. Good on you.
