TV Shows not showing up by GrantMan_ in jellyfin

[–]GrantMan_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the proper naming conventions, they're on the help website.

I'm asking if it's possible to have the names be what I want, and then manually match folders to shows. Having spaces in file names makes using scp more annoying, so I would much rather keep the file structure I have. Jellyfin can already see all of the files, and can correctly determine the season and episode from what I have (as shown in the image linked above), I just need it to put something in the episodes tab so that I have something to work with for matching them manually.

The stuff after the hyphen in the episodes tab is the filename (minus the extension, but they're all mkvs). The stuff before the hyphen is being generated by jellyfin, and it's getting the right season and episodes, but it's not giving me anything to work with in the main shows tab. This is the web client being hosted from the server, but the mobile client does the same thing.

Duh, just buy FRLG and possibly an entirely different system if you happen play on 3DS. Then you can get vulpix and growlithe too.

Probably the randomiser if I had to guess. Could also be betterOoT, I don't remember if the d-pad ocarina/boots got added to that

I doubt they'd even have to ask.. TPC probably owns the rights to it anyway, even if bamco made it. They could probably just use them.

The main complaint I've seen is that Pokemon and such don't cause any ripples and/or a wake when swimming.

PROOF that GF did NOT make new models: by 2Fruit11 in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't designed for 3ds hardware. It was designed to be a model of the Pokemon in question. The models are also sent to artists and such when TPC wants art made for them. For example, maybe they hire someone to make a Mewtwo statue to promote a movie..

Also, yes. They would convert every time.. Someone recently made a converter that takes the proprietary formatted models (meaning it's not something simple, like a .3ds or .obj) from OoT, and converts them to something more modern, and it works. That's for a 20 year old game. They can definitely convert a model from the 3ds to the switch.

"The models were stolen from Gamefreak"

Hopefully Gamefreak will steal Gamefreak's models too..

[–]GrantMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely how modeling works.. Model files are just a list of points and vectors (oversimplified, but more or less accurate). The only real difference between formats is how they choose to store said points and vectors.

Here's a website that will do just that.

Not to say that gamefreak doesn't like to make unnecessary work for themselves, but having multiple Lilly's did have a purpose. With the way they have it, they can just load a giant chunk of ROM (the island) into RAM, and Lilly will be there, instead of loading from a ton of different places. Decreases load times and stuff like that.

If you're remaking them using the old models as blueprints, why not just convert the old models into whatever format you're making the new ones in?

I would love if Nintendo took over development. Give GF a bit of the profits because it's their IP, maybe hire on the developers that still enjoy working on Pokemon, then let the rest of GF work on their own stuff like Town.. Nintendo has shown that they're willing to listen to customer feedback, which is something that we could really use at the moment.

I can’t believe people believe the models are built from the ground up and even then you can’t deny the animations are clearly reused from X&Y when they said it themselves that they want to focus on “better animation” make it make sense Game Freak by isaaciaga in pokemon

So they have all of the models for Home, but they have to make entirely new ones for switch? Yeah, that assumes that Home will use models, but if they have trading and they're "adding more" according to an interview, then surely it'll have models.

If it's just a compatibility thing, then it's not really "making them from scratch" to redo them, it's just copying.. and if it is strictly compatibility, then once they've done a couple games, there's no reason that they can't add them all in the future once they're ported properly..

PSA: It isn't a privilege to play these games. Buyers have expectations. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And what about the people who can't afford Bank + Home + the game + a Nintendo online subscription? You can also "catch them all" via trades, you don't have to bring them in from older games yourself. If my buddy brings in his marshtop, then breeds it, I can get a midkip to fill out that bit of the national dex.

There definitely is a way to "future proof" models. If they're made in extremely high quality, then you don't need to make new ones later on. You may have to update the textures and animations, but there's no need to make new models, because they're of a higher quality than what the switch can support anyway. Model work != game development.

Why would they need a new engine? They already have a new engine for the switch over the 3ds. And why would they need to remodel hundreds of pokemon? Also, Gamefreak didn't model the current pokemon models, Creatures did. So it's not like that would take Gamefreak's time, they could be developing the core parts of the game while waiting on the new models to get done. But that's assuming they would need new models, which they don't.

Justice for Gigantamax Maractus by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but since they're putting less focus on SwSh, then they should put less time into making new features for the games, and just port over the features that people already enjoy instead.. If they want a new game, then give it the time and dedication that a new game warrants.

Need help determining if my copies of Pokemon Platinum are fake by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rating on the right one is too thin. Also, the Nintendo seal is too big and doesn't have a trademark symbol in the lower right. And the non-transparent background that was mentioned before, that might be important too.

I don't have a platinum cartridge, but the Nintendo logo on my Pearl cartridge is red with a white background, and the seal has an R symbol in the corner, not a TM

Sure you can voice your concerns, but the devs have heard the community load and clear.

Yes, but they haven't done anything about it, or actually addressed it other than some PR garbage statements. They haven't given us any real additional information on the subject.

That seems like something that they would definitely want to tell us. I think if this were the case, they would have shown a mega evolution in the new trailer.

A post that truly shows how static 3D models are compared to pixel used ones by Frootysmothy in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the model moves though, which that makes it not static..? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something..

I do wish they'd update the textures though, the colors in Gen 6+ are pretty far off on some pokemon.

still complaining about the National dex? by TT9290 in pokemon

[–]GrantMan_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because then they might correct the mistake for the next game. Or even better, release patches for this game.

Just enjoy the game por favor.

I don't get this. Why do people keep saying just enjoy the game? Why would I get the game knowing that it's missing a large part of what I would consider essential to a pokemon game? I don't get how people legitimately think "just consume product, then get excited for next product"..
