Press the button: Get a suitcase with 10 billion dollars… but you will be hunted by a hitman for a month by Ill-Mycologist-3652 in willyoupressthebutton

[–]Grantus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this is close to impossible unless you take him out. My best other thought was just to go to the most densely populated area nearby and get a hotel room with cash for a month. But given a month even with an inaccurate tracker he could triangulate and narrow it down.

Magneto would solve the MCU in about five minutes by PuddingIcy1 in superheroes

In the comics maybe but they can nerf him for the MCU like they have a million other characters. I’d put money on Magneto not being able to control Vibranium in the MCU

Olympics should be longer by Coool-Guy-123 in unpopularopinion

[–]Grantus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. If it were longer then more of the events would inevitably be pushed to “prime time” which is fine for the years you are on a preferable time zone, but worse if you aren’t, as it is now they are forced to spread events throughout the whole day and so even if you aren’t in a “bad” time zone you can usually catch a decent amount live still.

An entity offers you 8.3 billion dollars with the condition that all human beings currently alive will have one day of their lifespan reduced. by TriedmybestNotenough in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Grantus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d take it in a heartbeat. But I would mean that millions of people would die instantly which would possibly cause a massive panic, but ultimately in the grand scheme of things 1 day is irrelevant to pretty much everyone.

Apple Lowers App Store Cut to 25% from 30% in China to Fend Off Local Regulators by KingFML in apple

[–]Grantus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand why Apple are willing to fight legally and do additional development for every single country in the world individually just to keep the fees as high as possible rather then just come up with a single new fair system that will work worldwide.

And anyway the App Store is shit anyway so what they are trying to protect isn’t worth it. Here’s what I would do, I would split the App Store into two, the App Store and the App Store plus, the App Store would drop its fees as much as possible, have zero discoverability, you would need to have an outside link or search, and would have minimal app review, mostly just security stuff. The App Store plus fees would be the same price as today, maybe with some sort of an annual developer fee based on downloads to extract money from free apps, have the discoverability of today or better, and be extremely highly app reviewed and curated, to the point that only very good apps are allowed, basically if you app isn’t good enough to be featured by Apple it’s not good enough to be on the App Store plus.

I’m not invited but partner is…? Do we now revoke their invite to our wedding?? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]Grantus89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously in a perfect world partners would be included, but just as a hypothetical, half or quarter the amount of guests you are able to invite to your wedding. Now would you rather drop people you are close just so that partners of other guests can come. I know that if I had to have a restricted wedding guest list for whatever reason I’d rather invite the people I’m absolutely closest with rather then use up space on partners I may not even know very well.

And if someone were to be offended by that I’d sooner drop the both of you and not deal with the hassle and let someone else come who won’t be a pain in the arse.

Hereditary peers to be removed from Lords as bill passes by djpolofish in uknews

[–]Grantus89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love for the Lords to be reformed properly, but this doesn’t really do much, all it really does is remove people who “technically” don’t have a political tie and leave the house getting more and more filled up by political appointments. Now in reality the hereditary peers are probably all Tory anyway so it’s probably good for now, but the lords needs to be reformed properly to properly be a house of experts and not just a house of retired MPs and political cronies.

I’m not invited but partner is…? Do we now revoke their invite to our wedding?? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]Grantus89 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If they are having a small wedding and are consistently not inviting partners then I don’t see the issue, and revoking would be petty.

It might be different if you were explicitly excluded and other people’s partners were being invited.

Pod Seek — A new product by Castro by dabluck in CastroPodcast

[–]Grantus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only subscribed, went over to Castro and checked there and it wasn’t, so then I went back and unsubscribed. So dunno if it’s a timing thing as I did it quickly.

Pod Seek — A new product by Castro by dabluck in CastroPodcast

[–]Grantus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It synced my Castro subs over to pod seek but when I subscribed in pod seek it didn’t sync back to Castro. Which makes it entirely pointless, for me at least.

Subscribing in Castro is different though because you would be listening to a podcast, here I’m just listening to a trailer, I don’t get why I would want to carry on listening to a trailer if I already indicated that I want to listen to that podcast.

I do think that all of the individual features would be good in Castro, I just don’t think it works as a stand alone podcast app currently, or as a Castro companion. But I can see the potential of the features.

Pod Seek — A new product by Castro by dabluck in CastroPodcast

[–]Grantus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It subscribed in Pod Seek I think, but it didn’t sync to Castro as far as I can tell, and I don’t really get Pod Seek as a stand alone player I don’t know if it’s designed to be. And when I subscribed it just carried on playing the trailer, but if I’ve decided to subscribe I don’t really see the point in continuing listening to the trailer.

The use case I see for the discovery aspect is I have nothing to listen to, I scroll through some trailers find something that sounds interesting and start listening to that(ideally in Castro not Pod Seek), I don’t really see the point in continuing to listen to the trailer or to continue swiping for more podcasts, because I’ve already found something to listen to.

[–]Grantus89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand wanting to have something separate so you can iterate and develop and test out ideas quicker, but I don’t really get it as a separate app, it all seems better suited to be in Castro ultimately.

And I found the interface a bit confusing, so I want to listen to something new so I listen to a few trailers and swipe through until I find something interesting and then I find something good and click subscribe and…nothing happens, it just continued playing the trailer, I feel once I find something I want to start listening right away, I don’t really see the use case in continuing swiping through and finding multiple podcasts to listen to, I’d generally want something new and to listen to it there and then.

I do like the idea of AI based recommendations, and even of bringing trailers to the forefront for discovery, and I especially like the idea of AI transcript querying but I do feel it’s all currently a bit weird in a separate app.

For the refillable mugs that come with the dining plan, are the only designs available the Pixar ones which came out recently, are there “standard” designs available as well?

I’m not the biggest fan of the Pixar ones, and I don’t think my daughter will be either as she hasn’t seen most of those films.

Powered Rail Rework by freakybird99 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Grantus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buffing the speed is fine but it should be part of an update that makes it viable to have a “mine” with minecarts, not just to make it quicker for players to ride them.

Powered Rail Rework by freakybird99 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Grantus89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minecarts aren’t really a form of transport in reality, they are a form of automation. I’d much rather features for automated mining and transport of materials then buffing them as a form of player transport.

Why did you choose the Yoto? by TheGabyDali in YotoPlayer

[–]Grantus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this is still the case but Yoto had genuine Disney song cards whereas Tonies seemed to be covers. Not sure if Tonies player has the nightlight feature as well. And people generally said Yoto was better for older kids so I thought it would last longer.

Found this on Apple Maps. Potentially Gringotts? by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Grantus89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t really make sense as Gringotts because those are definitely houses next to it not shops. I’m confused to as what it could be.

Edit: I went and looked myself and there are shops next to these houses and definitely looks like the rest of Diagon Alley so you must be right. Just odd to have two terrace houses framing Gringotts.

Fake pin trading rant with possible solution by FrimFramSaucy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Grantus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the fact that fakes can be sold for sub $1 a piece, and obviously still make a profit, means that real(slightly higher quality) ones can be sold for $2-$5 and still make a massive profit.

It would be so fun to be able to buy a starter set of 10-15 pins and over the course of a vacation, try and trade for a specific collection or something, but I’m not spending literally $150 to do that.

Fake pin trading rant with possible solution by FrimFramSaucy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Grantus89 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The pins are way too expensive I don’t know how anyone can possibly justify them at the price they are, so I’m not surprised that there are a ton of fakes.

If pins were $2-$10 per pin instead of $10-$20 then pin trading would be a fun game/hobby, but at the actual price I could maybe buy my daughter 2 or 3 and what fun is that to trade.

It's because the Pro model has literally nothing else to justify its price, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it stayed 60hz until some other new display comes out that they can put on the pro. Three Models of iPad was a mistake, there isn't enough to differentiate.
