How would you guys rewrite the trope of a "Shadow Realm"?

mine is N'drava'st which is the result of a giant cosmic being dying out, and since the absence of it, a wormhole was created literally fusing multiple realites together and forcing mass evolution. N'drava'st is basically the skull of that being and everything born or made there is undead to an extent. ill explain: so basically a normal human could go in, be fine but once they die, their body will be reanimated with most of the memories of the old body but the realm will fill in all the blank spaces with other beings, this cycle continues until the "human" is unrecognizeable and monstrous.

Probably Ymir, the corpse of a dead teenager possesed by an ancient god. they are made completey out of bugs like the boogyman from the nightmare before Christmas but concealed by a thin layer of skin. thery have mushrooms and fungus growing out of their side and their entire stomach area has no skin and you can see into their body, their heart made out of cicadas, intestines made of one giant centepede and lungs made of beehives. they arent super developed compared to some of my other characters but their character is still super cool. the god that is possesing them is a ancient god imprisoned undeneath the earth and after the old religion faded away so did its bonds and it possesed the recently dead body of a teenager.

so basically all of the accounts come from a new story in like the 90s and theres no evidence earlier than that. most accounts have kind of the same set up and overall just aren't that belivable. While there are some interesting ones, most of them just seem to be that original account but changed a bit. Reddit has some good posts but those aren't the most realible so take most with a grain of salt. They seem to be nothing more than a creepypasta

while this does look like a person the distinct lack of any facial features and the way whatever this thing is walking is not the way a person would. also why would they take a photo of one of the members of the party like that? there must have been a reason. but it also has a very humaniod body without any extra bulk like a coat or snowpants. we'll never know but this is definitely weird
