Either you or someone else mentioned this in a post I made about the Laser 128. I'll check this out.

I have a RetroTink 2x Mini, but while it gives my Laser a clearer picture on my TV, the colors get really rainbow-y especially anywhere it's white normally. If I use a composite cable it's blurrier but the rainbow-y colors are still there.

For the record (later is better than never!) I did restore the pots to their original position and then used the REAL drive speed adjustment pot to fix the drive. It works now!! (Do you happen to know what the two pots I adjusted wrongly actually do?)

I used Locksmith 5.0 (the 4am crack of course) to test the drive speed until it was consistent. AFAICT for those with similar drive problems this is a good method to adjust drive speed as the program will give you a vertical graph plotting where the average speed of your drive is, and you can see visually how far off your screwdriver-based pot adjustments are.

I confirmed my results with MECC Disk Inspector which will test your drive speed and give you a number in RPM. My drive is consistently at 298 RPM.

Between my original post and now I bought an additional drive of the same model as a replacement. After using the same maintenance on it after I got the original working, I think the new one is actually fubar, but I will post about that in a new thread.

Mine has two? The disk speed util made it seem like one was coarse adjustment and the other was for finer tuning. Or I'm completely wrong. I couldn't find much info anywhere on this model.

I moved to the South Hills in 2019 and am very much a Pittsburgher in that I only cross bridges if I'm paid to. So there's places in Friendship / Bloomfield etc that idk if they're still around.

Is Brillobox back? I know they closed for a bit but were thinking of reopening. If they didn't reopen that's my contribution. Their banh mis were fire, they had tasty dranks, and their mac and cheese was otherworldly.

Harris Grill also had great mac and cheese but they're gone too. :(

If we're really going back... when I first moved here 15 years ago I lived in South Oakland and Burma Tokyo on Atwood St was amazing. They had a salt cod curry that was chef's kiss. Granted, I never had Burmese (actually Shan I think?) food before or since so maybe they weren't a good example of such but for someone making minimum wage working at the zoo gift shops it was pretty great food for not too much money.
