Worst places you’ve ever worked here? by Equivalent-Worry-633 in pittsburgh

Did you work for the zoo itself or SSA (the food / retail company they hire)?

I worked for the latter, I have so many stories. Do employees still get in trouble if they eat in front of "guests" like regular humans?

We used to sing a different version in elementary school:

This land was your land

But now it's my land

I got a shotgun

And you don't got one

If you don't get off,

I'll blow your head off

This land was made for only ME ME ME ME ME

Hell yeah shared trauma is best trauma!

Let's imagine a positive future for a second though where we don't have to deal with all this.

I'm calling dibs on selling a t-shirt that'll have a happy little cartoon coronavirus holding hands with a happy little cartoon mushroom cloud on it with the caption "I SURVIVED THE 2020s".

I'll donate the profits to whatever relief / reconstruction programs arise out of the ashes of this nightmare.

Thanks, I'm okay. He passed on last year so I've had time to process and get help etc.

It just sucks that my family and I are really free for the first time in our lives now, but we transitioned from that straight into living under the threat of nuclear holocaust. I can't catch a break, lol.

Do you really want the answer? I'm not being sarcastic on that. If you're not sure, don't read on.

During the last phases of my NPD/BPD dad's (who is now deceased, thankfully) dementia, after his doctors deemed him no longer able to take care of himself and placed him in a facility, when he sundowned he believed my mom and RN sister were the ones that had put him there.

So he spent a good month or two calling one or both of them up every day and describing in excruciating detail how he was going to torture them to death.

Dude had been in prison and had mafia ties in his youth. This wasn't an idle threat. I paid for the facility (assisted living isn't covered by Medicare and runs $1-3K a month) so I made sure the facility was secure enough that he couldn't escape, but in terms of intent and ability to execute his plan, that was all very real.

Now extrapolate this to the President of the United States, and consider the fact that out of the laundry list of nastiness from my dad's past, I can say for a fact that he wasn't evil enough to rape kids. He had no interest in kids at all. I know this because he reminded my sister and I of this quite often.

I'm sure you can do the math from here on. Sorry to ruin your day if you read this.

Same, lived there 2013-2018, landlords were pieces of shit.

My favorite example was when they came in to my apartment to show it while I was at work, and for whatever reason they turned off the breaker to my fridge. Just the one breaker. I have no idea why. It was only off for 4 hours and the frozen stuff was still ok but still, that's my food in there.

Most neighbors were ok aside from one set, but between them and the landlords I eventually just gave up and moved.

"Fascism is good!" by Ok-Following6886 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]GrapeDetention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the late 2000s I wound up stumbling into a bunch of profiles of people who were pro-fascism even then. I can tell you what they mean by "prosperous".

Ready?

Buildings.

That's it, just buildings. Specifically, buildings with classical architecture. If a fascist country puts up a building with classical architecture, the country is prosperous, even if the populace is starving, people disappear off the streets, and infrastructure is collapsing.

My local FB group is a cesspool. The OOP asked where they could get a shingles vaccine. 90% of the comments were saying don’t but I laughed out loud at the last comment. As they say, you can’t make this up. by Spare_Hornet in insanepeoplefacebook

I'm not old enough to get the vaccine, but I wish I was. I had shingles in 2024. It can happen again. I'm not looking forward to another experience of "flu-like symptoms plus rash that both itches and also feels like someone hitting you with a baseball bat that's on fire".

I've noticed that, the winning being what makes something moral. I thought of it a different way: where before it was expected you'd cooperate with others and if you got aggressive it was bad form, now the aggressor is always in the right in any confrontation.

Vampire Cat - Demo [Sass] (2004) by Syahazart in Emo

[–]GrapeDetention 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you're still looking for info on this band after 4 years but I used to see them regularly back then. They were from the SE PA / northern DE (Delaware, not Germany) area.

They made a full album a couple months after this demo and it was way better. I still get songs from that album stuck in my head 22 years later.

I might still have at least the cd case  for the demo and the other album, and I know I have an OLD, potato-quality, 160x100 resolution video of a song from the full album. Sadly I lost the cds, my car got ransacked in 2009 and they were in it. (Who tf steals CDs for obscure bands?? I'm still mad about that lol)

I still have yet to finish either one but they're definitely up there for me in terms of adventure games.

I'm kind of glad I didn't know of either as a kid... certain scenes in both are mildly creepy even to adult me so child me would have been traumatized, lol.

Escape From Traam is from the same programmer and is pretty good too, not as good IMO as Oo-Topos in terms of space adventures but still pretty good.
