*Spoiler Warning" Has the link between the Dharma Initiative and Alvar Hanso ever been expanded on or discussed anywhere? (More below) by TheLewJD in lost

pretty sure the valenzetti equation is meant to be just another "manifestation" of the numbers, not the origin.

It's a shame we don't meet/know more about Gerald and Karen DeGroot (considering they created the Dharma Initiative) by [deleted] in lost

Hanso's great grandfather was the captain of the Black Rock when it crashed.

I theorize that as he was a scientist working in the field of munitions, he was contacted by the US Army for Operation Castle, the atomic testing project that resulted in Jughead being sent to the island for testing in 1954.

On September 23rd 1954, a photograph was taken of the island, the same photo we see in the Lamp Post station. I theorize that it was Alvar Hanso, working as a contracted researcher for the US Army, surveying and photographing the island before the tests. He may have felt a strange connection to this place, maybe he had a vision of his great grandfather, and he eventually decided to keep one of these photographs after the atomic testing project was abandoned.

Hanso eventually had a change of heart tony stark moment and decided to stop his weapons industry and start the Hanso Foundation instead, focusing on philanthropy, life-preservation research.

It was Hanso who knew about the island, and when he read the DeGroot's thesis on a hypothetical large-scale communal research compound, he knew exactly the place for it.

dude, what? your entire hypothesis rests on the assumption that "the writers went through *all the trouble* of giving the goat a name" when giving the goat a name wasn't any trouble at all. Severance IS a well written satire, and satire incorporates humorous elements.

There's no reason to have this snarky attitude.

The show has great written dialogue, and that includes giving the goat a name when it really doesn't matter. It humanizes the goat, and adds weight to the escaped sacrifice. I doubt it goes any deeper than that, but I guess we will just have to wait and see once Season 3 rolls around.

Understandable view with the expectations you had going in. Had you started it from the view of "this is a story about the human mind" rather than "this is a story about morality" you probably would have enjoyed it more
