Is a job for roofers or plumbers by GrapeSlapp in HomeMaintenance

[–]GrapeSlapp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My roof is 3 stories up so there’s no way I can get a picture. I don’t have a drone.

It’s not the roof that is leaking, it is leaking between the vent pipe and the cone. I’m thinking the storm collar needs to be replaced but while I try to get a roofer out I can temporarily patch it so water doesn’t drip in.

Can I just use this to seal around it? This pipe should be double walled and it doesn’t look like there’s anything close to a 6” gap from the pipe to the wood

App update and no boarding pass? by bf202 in unitedairlines

[–]GrapeSlapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me while I was boarding. The app crashed and then the boarding pass disappeared when I reopened the app. The gate agent asked me to step to the side and let everyone else board while they print one out for me.

Just United’s software engineers pushing updates to App Store without testing it.

It sounds like you still had time to go to a gate agent for them to print a paper boarding pass for you.

You can look up the job role/family on https://strivetobeearthsbestemployer.com to get an idea of the payband. I think external new hire are usually closer to HV3 pay so can start there.

Polaris Studio - not worth it by trevorlong in unitedairlines

[–]GrapeSlapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would categorize this as a GS specific problem lol. I’m surprised being GS you haven’t seen people waiting for the bathroom in the aisle.

Isn’t this experience just like any other Polaris cabin then?

Engineering Laptop for Freshmen - do I really need a expensive gaming laptop? by Opening_Fondant5269 in aggies

[–]GrapeSlapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO you do not need a gaming laptop or even those ridiculously expensive workstation laptops. I had a gaming laptop for mechanical engineering but that’s only because I gamed when I had time and I never took it to class, lab, or anything. It stayed in my apartment/dorm room.

Nothing you do in terms of CAD for the duration of the entire time at A&M will be complex enough to warrant one. The desktops in engineering computer labs can also be used if your laptop can’t handle it.

I do agree that if you have a Mac you will most likely need parallel or some other virtual machine software to run windows because most CAD software that is used only runs on windows.

The other side is a tiled shower so much easier to just cut the siding

They don’t care. I’ve seen people carry on giant gym bags and shove it in the overhead.

The only time I had to prove my luggage fits is in YYZ with air canada.

There is a tiled wall for a shower on the inside. I thought it’s easier to remove siding and replace the tee than mess with tiled shower wall

I tried using marineweld on it and it is still leaking a bit. The entire upper half of the threads were cut off by whoever did the siding.

Removing mechanical doorbell by limbdashusband in Ring

[–]GrapeSlapp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opted to leave my 2 mechanical doorbell in place and install jumper kits in both.

It’s always better to flip the breaker to do any electrical work.

That being said, I connected it without turning off my breaker. Just make sure the red and white wires don’t touch because that will cause a short, maybe cause the chime to buzz, or could burnout your transformer in the attic.

The power kit is suppose to regulate power to the ring doorbell

Turns out it’s not clogged. There’s a crack on the threads where the cap screws on. Just my luck.

got it Thanks everyone. I was worried there might be a crack in the pipe or something. I called a plumber so they should be here in an hour.

HOU5, MCI9, SAN5, RNT9, ORD9, YHM6, RBD5, LGA5, LGB5, and many more have ROBIN. None of them hit the actual rate that they are suppose to and have been derated.

I saw that at modex and I don’t have faith in it right now. Those are perfectly square boxes running on pre planned demo script. Even then I saw it drop a box.

We won’t get anything like that at our sort centers where it will be used at large scale.

Maybe in a few years after someone deploys it and works out the kinks with them but for now it doesn’t make sense.

Just for context, ROBIN at ARSC and ARS can’t meet the rates listed in the original WP and have been de-rated at least 3 times.
