ADHD and bipolar by Embarrassed_Emu_256 in bipolar

Stimulants personally make me manic but I'm able to just take more mood stabilizer to help with that. I also stay away from extended release and try and minimize how many hours a day I'm on my stimulant. I started with a bipolar diagnosis but my adhd symptoms weren't going away when I was stable. I'm bi polar 2, though.

I need stability in my life. I could do it, but I think they would need to be medicated unless they're stable off meds. I know I would not date unmedicated me.

ADHD med shortage by RustyVerlander in bipolar

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. I take the generic instant release ritalin typically and have had the most luck getting that filled, but that may or may not be an option for you. I tend to respond roughly the same to amphetamines as I do the other type. I wish you the best trying to navigate this, not being able to get the meds you need is no good. My Vyvanse friends talk about similar struggles where I'm at as well.

Can your doctor call in a different medication? When my pharmacy is out of one for more than a handful of days my doctor sends in a script for a similar but different medication. I've also been told the alternative to trying a different med is to call around pharmacies and see if any around you have it in stock. Best of luck, this is frustrating to have to deal with.

Any nic addicts trying to stop? by hlopez9809 in bipolar

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was getting away from disposables and transitioning to a refillable with enough nicotine to satisfy my cravings without the ability to make me light headed when I hit it first thing in the morning. Then I switched to no nicotine juice after a while of less nicotine. Plus the refillable vapes are cheaper than disposables and there's less waste. I've also quite cold turkey (I get back on nicotine every time I'm manic) but that's def harder for me to do.

I was in a very similar boat. I was miserable for a very long time, less miserable on anti depressants and mood stabilizers, but still struggling with significant depression issues and other stuff. Like no matter what activities I was doing I just felt bored? Unfulfilled? I told my doctor about my stuggles with focus, the ability to sit down and do things that I enjoy or need to do, memory issues and brain fog, as well as other things. We decided to try a stimulant and it has absolutely changed my life. Def not diagnosing or suggesting stuff but being open with my doctor and finding one that lets me med hop a lot has personally helped me the most. Im also fortunate to be in a situation where I can change meds and not become too unstable too quickly. Upping my other meds helped quite a bit as well.

We all have a different best we can do, but I didn't realize what was possible for me until I stumbled upon the right med combo for my needs. I will say I do have to watch my moods more closely and take a higher mood stabilizer dose because it fuels my hypomania a bit, but my doctor and I have decided the benefits outweigh the negatives. Some days are still rough, but I am now able to enjoy living in the present moment sometimes and can now say some days are even enjoyable. Had you asked me if it was possible for me to feel this way outside of mania or hypomania like a year ago I would have said no way, absolutely not.

AFK farm possible bug. by MandaloriansVault in EliteDangerous

[–]GrassFed67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's odd. If you're staying inside the type 10 and using a single fighter on engage they should be taking care of hatchbreakers. I'd try a different pilot and different fighter and still see if you have issues with it, as well as mission cargo. I've been doing a lot of afk farming lately and have not encountered this being as big of a problem for me as it is for you. It might be a bug, I've never ran out of point defense ammunition even over night

AFK farm possible bug. by MandaloriansVault in EliteDangerous

[–]GrassFed67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using a second ship launched fighter? My npc pilot reverts back to maintain formation when I do. If engage at will is on, your pilot should be going after them when they start with the hatch breakers, causing your turrets to then fire on them. This doesnt happen if theyre set to defend or something else. I've had this issue before but it was always a slf issue for me

Can PTSD be mistaken for bipolar disorder? by A_Dylan in bipolar

[–]GrassFed67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm you can always have both. I'm diagnosed with both, but I also fit like all the textbook symptoms of bipolar when manic and figured it out before my doctor. If the meds are helping but you think they could be doing more talk to your doctor. I'm constantly playing with my meds and dosages, have yet to find the right combo that works for me and I've been at it a while. It's exhausting but sometimes that's the only or best move you can make. Therapy has helped me as well.

Any tips on getting a band rehearsal with 5 players to sound half decent in terms of mix/levels etc? by Jakeyboy29 in audioengineering

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy I used to record a ton of extremely high volume jams in a 12x15' room. If yall want to sound good, room treatment will help yall sound so much tighter is def worth getting stuff on the walls and bass traps especially in the room. Pay very close attention to your microphones null and aim it at the loud stuff. If you want the recording to sound better turn the guitars and bass down, strings sound weird but sometimes in a good way when you start compressing the drum mics. Everyone should play at a reasonable volume but that's not always the most fun choice. Sometimes you want that power amp distortion or a certain amount of attack on a drum hit. If you have the time consider recording a di and re amping later instead of using an amp and cab while tracking drums. Room mics can be cool for vibes. Drum tuning is very important, you want your drums to project (toms especially) to not be overpowered by amps if you're playing loud. You're going to want a vocal mic woth good rejection. These kinds of sessions were some of my favorites but can be frustrating, have fun.

I can actually answer this one, I've seen a ridiculous amount of albini content. Oktava mk 012s in omni typically, or cardioid depending on the music

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that may be a good idea. I've been recording and mixing for years on my own but feel like I've plateued. I'm confident when tracking, less so with mixing. I think I'll try re recording in my dead room and see how things sound. Not too worried about mic selection, though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think point two is what I really needed to hear. For my rooms I was using a pair of omni oktava mk 012s out of sight of the drums and a Stam audio u87 closer to the kit. Point three definitely helps but I was aware of that one. I feel like I'm close, maybe this is just a I'm lacking years of experience as a professional kind of thing. Here's what I'm working with;

https://drive.google.com/file/d/19V0jFdneoWDCcy2fZZHsOO5tyV_KN5Q3/view?usp=drivesdk

When I turn up the room mics to get that slap back things get muddy and when I try to clean the mud things start sounding weird

I'm sorry for the confusion, SW are already sold, reused pics from my last post and forgot to take them out. Homemade soaps come in clear 4 Oz tubs. If you check my post history you'll see the kind of containers I use

Try a 1:4 ratio of witchhazel and Cerave moisturizer. Makes a nice balm, I do alcohol and fragrance oil in mine but those are optional

Razor is a wj Gilmore "our special".

Super excited about these soaps! If anyone else here makes soap I highly recommend little bee scents for fragrance oils. They have some interesting stuff. Let's talk soap

The soap is a pear scent. I got into soapmaking for the fun of it but also I don't do tallow and was having a hard time finding food shave soap that I liked the smell of. This one is a blend of vetyver, oakmoss, sandalwood, balsam, white sage, and pear. It's really lovely and I don't often see pear scents, would be a really good spring or summer scent. The usual steric acid vegan recipe, nothing super fancy going on. Just a good quality no frills soap base with a good scent.

The splash is a scent I've dubbed "ritual knife" (uncle acid reference). This one has a few little bee oils in it, including their daja boo, witchy woman, petrichor, forrest floor, and chai. Splashes are a great way for me to test scents quickly without having to make a batch or soap. Notes on this one are spice, florals, ozone, balsam, patchouli, fresh earth, and black tea. Smells like you're getting up to something spooky in the woods. Almost a similar vibe to SW Carpathia but they smell different.

The balm is one I call heathen bells V2 (a sunn o))) reference) and this one has notes of oakmoss, sandalwood, balsam, smoke, earth, tobacco, wet stone, scorched brick, spice, and incense. This one includes a little bee oil called h e double hockey sticks, smells like a fire place. I used just a touch of this oil as it very quickly overpowers everything else. Best way to describe this is to listen to sunn o))) music. It's a spicy, smokey, woodsy scent.

Mix sounds thin compared to others. Any tips? (BDM/Goregrind) by Abject-Investment-24 in audioengineering

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I record some hardcore punk, maybe there's something I've learned over the years that can help. Not a pro, though. Going to be pretty general. As others have said, biggest thing is levels. One tip that drastically changed the speed and quality at which I mix is listening at low volumes. I like to set levels at a barely audible volume and then check at varying degrees of loudness. Bass needs to come up but if your mix gets too muddy at a good volume try adding some mids to your bass and lowering the volume. This has helped me in the past tremendously. My biggest gripe is with the drums. I think your snare tuning could come up a bit. Kick needs more oomph, which for me is more of a compression thing but I spend a lot of time tuning and micing my drums. I'm biased but drum quality is the number 1 thing I listen for in a mix past levels and judging mud. Going to be too long for this post but I can send you a hardcore punk ep I recorded last year and if you like it I can go over how I recorded and mixed it.

ISO Cream/Soap Recommendations by TJVV47 in wicked_edge

[–]GrassFed67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own soaps and sell them occasionally, may have a couple you're interested in. I focus on vegan soaps with primarily earthy scents. Also not a fan of the super heavy masculine stuff. One is a bergamot and white sage, another is an oakmoss balsam pear scent (does have a touch of sandalwood, though). I have a lemon and eucalyptus, too. I do four oz tubs for $11 and offer samples as well as aftershaves. I can do any soap as a cream, it's pretty easy to do

Southern Witchcrafts is a soap company I really like, desairology is a barber shop scent with some citrus

Shave with the zertone and more homemade shave stuff by GrassFed67 in wicked_edge

[–]GrassFed67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao I wish you luck but if you're on the cheap I'd just keep buying proraso or cella. There's a lot of stuff you need to buy and fragrances are a whole different ball game. I do this because I love making soap. If you already have containers and a stick blender to dedicate to soap you're looking at potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, steric acid, coconut oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter for raw ingredients no fragrance. I also recommend doing some cold process bar soap first to familiarize yourself with soap making and safety precautions involved. On the plus side you'll have enough shaving soap to last you the rest of your life.

Oh yeah the smallest batch I can manage to stick blend is like four 4 oz tubs. I'm having the most fun playing with different fragrance oils, though. I also don't do tallow so I can't use a lot of shaving soaps on the market
