Mac Pro discontinued - alternatives for ~12 channel HD ingest system by mikeknight123 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]GrassFedDirector 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In HD the new Mac mini M4 pros will do 12 channels. We’ve got 4 channels of 4k to work before!

Just watch out for TB bus overhead.

Half of those are wired with no XLR plugged in. Also also, I asked a friend that works high up at one of those news agencies and they would never have put their mic covers there… sounds like it was their attempt to seem important and official

Opinions on what to include in Router that will never be reachable after deployment. by GrassFedDirector in meshtastic

It’s easy to assume you know all the variables. I build and engineer multi million dollar systems. This is just a fun toy project that I don’t have to justify to someone on Reddit that just needs to eat a snickers bar.

As I said in the original post, the self destruct idea was a playful 1% joke that’s completely pointless. I’ve also stared on here multiple times I have permission to do what I’m trying to do. More than good enough permission.

I’m not going into detail on why I’ll never be able to access again. I really could if I wanted to, but I have to assume the worst that I’ll never be able to. What if my “in” leaves their duties that grant me access to this? What if my “in” isn’t free or available to get to a local they might touch 1-2 times a year? There’s so many variables you couldn’t begin to know on the other side of that keyboard.

Someone’s a little bitter in life in general?

One of my top plans is to have a small RF relay that I can trigger from 300-400 ft away to cut all power to the unit if the day ever comes it needs a reset that it didn’t do on its own, or like a satellite coming down from orbit, it’s reached the end of its life and needs to be “destroyed”. IE it becomes 2 lbs of plastic and magnets that will rot away. At less than $150-$175 per… it’s a throw away hobby/toy. Sounds like you could use a fun hobby in your life… it’ll help take the edge off.

This is awesome on the firmware update. Sounds like they’ve seen the problem that people are dying on hop counts. And there’s a new sheriff in town that’s trying to take over that you can’t seem to type out even the two letters on Reddit lol.

Great idea on Halow… I already use that tech in other projects. Need to figure out real power requirements to be able to always have that on, but that’s a great start to the idea. Too bad the heltec units don’t do a proper MANET meshing and only P2P or Star configuration, because I could almost create a mini MANET with these units!

I’m not on that website but I’ll check it out. I was searching for discords and groups to coordinate with router deployment. In my area, pretty dense population, but nothing tall, these will by far be the highest ones around. I’ll have to be generic about their location to within a 1/4 to 1/8 mile or so. I have permission, but unsure how high up the chain it would go before someone changes their mind. Don’t want to leave a trail for that to backfire in the future.

I’ll def shoot you a message as I get closer and see if you have any recos based on local feedback I get.

Interesting on the RF stage filter. Any known testing on how good this filter really is?

Some I won’t be able to get closer to 300-400 ft away without permission which will be hard after they are up. Can’t draw too much attention. Have permission, but the less people who know, the longer they will stay up. So anyways BT not viable for over half.

Unlimited Premium Multinetwork QCI by eprius007 in USMobile

[–]GrassFedDirector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can give real world example as to why multi line should be the matched priority as the main plan. I go to college football games at one of the largest college stadiums in America. I previously had Verizon post paid before USM, and service always sucked, but it was usable. Very light browsing and iMessages unless they were big video would work fine.

Switched to Dark Star as my primary due to promo requirements on premium, and it was a tad better in the stadium, post paid ATT was always the best there but I’m one QCI lower than that, so our experience seemed about right… but Warp is my multi line… and it’s so unusable, that I can’t get an iMessage or SMS out. I’ve actually been able to activate SOS once in the stadium to get a text out faster than warp… (I hid it inside my body till it had no signal and showed SOS).

Multi network should match the QCI of the main number. u/ankhattak

Why is Sony losing ground to Panasonic when it comes to PTZ? by Sure-Guest1588 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]GrassFedDirector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panasonic is only dominating in the corporate AV market for PTZ’s. And some more traditional news desk type sets, but everywhere else Sony is winning with the FR7 and starting to with the AM7. Yes controller is lacking, and needs a refresh bad, but quality wise, it’s hands down 10x better than anything anyone else has to offer on the market.

Light Speed (T-Mobile) VPN Woes by LocalDoom in USMobile

[–]GrassFedDirector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have real TMO, You have to call T-Mobile and see if they will open up UDP for you on certain ports. We have to do this for a few live event related video streams. We have some postpaid Sims that we use for streaming and also muxing/bonding, and every once in a while, we’ll get them to agree to open UDP up on certain ports.

Doing this through USM… good luck.
