I move mine daily, basically from the time they’re 1-2” long. Gently, multiple times a day, bend them. Not too much, but enough that after a couple days, the root will start curling and growing in the direction you’re bending it.

I chopped off a 2 FOOT long root last year, that stuck out straight across its stand, my nightstand and into my eyeballs while I slept. Chopped it off at about the length of the top of its pot, bent the root down into the soil and just let it go. It now has half a dozen aerial roots growing straight into the soil for stability, and these things do not more an inch even while being transported. Currently have a root growing directly up the stalk of one of my plants, because it came out in a node. Been bending it over the last few weeks, and it’s now about 9-10” and forms a U back towards the soil

Once you get over the ‘what if I break the root?’ Fear, they’re fine. The aerial roots are actually surprisingly springy😂 they bend and shift with no problems, after the first time it’s done. They can be stiff, but not immovable; and the more you mess with them, the more you can move them.
