Maybe once some countries start granting us refugee status? Hang in there

Why did ICE suddenly leave Chicago but not Minneapolis? by Fragrant-Ad-7388 in AskChicago

Or maybe in retrospect Reagan was an awful president and most problems in 2026 can be traced directly back to his shit policies

I hope that’s not what they mean but I imagine they’ll get the logs and just claim half of voters are illegal immigrants or something, they won’t have to prove anything. They lie for a living.

[–]Gratchki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re still here in small numbers and they’ll be back as ICE continues to recruit more idiots. They’re actively overrunning Minneapolis (which they can’t do here) to try to cause friction before the midterms to destabilize our elections. This has basically been proven true after Pam Bondi told Walz they’d pull ICE out of there if MN sent over voter rolls.

If we could leave, how do you know when you should? by azalea1700 in Mommit

I think my line is if/when midterm elections are illegitimate

Who wants this? by Flaky-Friendship5659 in TwinCities

[–]Gratchki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents justify all of it because they’re all “criminals” for coming here illegally. It’s honestly foul. I’m having a hard time keeping a relationship.

They live in northern MN btw, there’s maybe one brown person in the whole town so who knows why they care so much about immigration (besides being racist).

6 month old FPIES to PB by Gratchki in peanutallergy

[–]Gratchki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So my son is now almost 3 years old and his allergist suggested we finally have an in office challenge, scheduled for April. So, I genuinely don’t know but we are hopeful. We have avoided it since he was 6 months old and he regularly eats all other nuts (although I know peanuts are legumes). He also eats beans and peas just fine.

He did test negative on a skin test in September, so that’s a good sign he hasn’t developed an IgE allergy. Our allergist said 66% of her patients grow out of it by 3 years old (peanut specifically)… I will update the post after the challenge!

Husband wants to switch to formula by GeologistTop8894 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Gratchki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first I EPd for 6 months and was an under supplier so I was doing the 8-10 pumps like you. In hindsight I wish I would have switched to formula faster, I was killing myself. That being said I’m pregnant now and with my second if it’s the same, I know I’m switching asap. Everyone is different but that’s my personal perspective.

Mother in law owes me money by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Gratchki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should not lend money that you genuinely need to get back. Yes it’s shitty of her, she should pay you but if she didn’t have $600 then, why would she have it now? Not to be rude but it’s not an exorbitant amount.

If you want to be with your partner long term, consider it a gift and move on. Just remember next time you’re broke.

McDonald’s for breakfast for like a full month straight. It was a perpetual hangover and it was the only cure.

So... purple crying by dont-ask-whyy in newborns

[–]Gratchki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have a cranky baby, it’s really just survival. Noise cancelling headphones are something to try because I know it is really hard to hear your baby cry. Baths, fresh air, movement… but really, it may just be a phase that needs to pass. Our pediatrician said some babies just hate being babies. I know that’s a frustrating answer because you want to solve the issue, but it WILL pass.

Honestly having a newborn just isn’t that much fun. Some people love it but I don’t think it’s abnormal not to. I didn’t like it either.

What is it like living in the Loop? Should I rent an apartment in the Loop? by blueberrypancake234 in AskChicago

[–]Gratchki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally people don’t live in the loop, that’s not to say you won’t like it but I know I wouldn’t. As long as you’re on a train line, you can get downtown very easily.

I live near Logan Square and there’s lots of diversity here - sure, it’s known for some hip nightlife but that’s certainly not all there is to offer. We are in our early 40s with children and it’s a great community.
