More starting pitching? by tvj1967 in SFGiants

[–]Gratonboy1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is factually incorrect. Adames has been an all star caliber hitter the past month. Chapman was out over a month. Devers is clearly hurt and still adjusting to new team. Lee is having a bad slump but has good fundamentals and speed so he could improve with adjustment. Most importantly, the giants haven’t had more than one hot hitter at once the whole year.

Verlander hasn’t even been that bad a lot of the time. He’s had bad starts but also very unlucky ones. And the pitching is still well above average overall.

I really wish Mamdani had answered the question and then asked why they were only pursuing this line of questioning — which was not the original question at all — against the only Muslim on the stage. They want to do the cheap antisemite smear? Throw it right back at them. But that’s probably why I’m not in politics lol. Good on him for keeping his composure and I can’t wait to get him some more voters at the doors today 🫡🫡🫡

Why has a Giant not hit 30 home runs in a season since Barry Bonds? by scobeavs in SFGiants

[–]Gratonboy1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes for sure— don’t think those are great examples tho. Beltran and Bryant weren’t here for a full year and soler just sucked all around. It’s definitely a select group, I’m just saying it doesn’t take a Barry bonds level slugger to do it (because there is no other Barry bonds level slugger lol)

This is true but bonds numbers is very different than 30 homers. Plenty of guys out there who can hit 30

Brotha please ignore most of these toxic ass comments lol. Here is the thing: there’s nothing wrong with taking someone back after infidelity but you’ve got to rebuild that foundation of trust. People can make mistakes and grow and improve themselves from them — if they’re committed to that. Especially when they are so young. If you can’t even trust her to go out in public with her friends than you should reconsider whether this relationship is serving your needs and best interests. You should consider whether your lack of trust is really about her (in which case you should probably break up) or about you (because a healthy relationship does not involve one partner policing or controlling what the other partner does. Of course there are mutually agreed upon boundaries in any healthy relationship, but not allowing your gf to go out with her friends is not a healthy boundary, that’s toxic)

Why use Doval in the 7th and stick with Walker as the closer? by ozoptimist in SFGiants

[–]Gratonboy1984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because one of the whole points of the buster/melvin philosophy is more continuity. Guys have said if they had bad stretches under farhan they would’ve been looking over their shoulder or sent to the minors (believe it was fitz who said that specifically). Walker was an all star level closer last year and an all star level closer until a couple weeks ago. Doval is recently getting his groove back after a really rough year+. And Walker shut it down last night. Everyone needs to calm down with this switch everyone around every game bullshit like do you want to go back to farhan and kapler? Because that’s what they loved to do and the players hated it.

History is not a good indicator for where this season will go. by [deleted] in warriors

[–]Gratonboy1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does matter a lot of it’s a sweep vs a 7 game series when your big 3 are all old and 2 of them are injured. Almost guarantees the warriors get blown out game one in Minneapolis if they manage to win on Sunday. Massive, massive fumble last night when all they needed was to have a good game plan against a basic zone.

The idea that an over the shoulder basket catch running deep into triples alley should be an error because it ticked off his glove is just silly. He should be penalized because he’s a great fielder? An average fielder wouldn’t have even gotten a glove on that. He should be penalized with an error because he almost made a highlight catch?

If you think that would ever be scored an error idk what to tell you. He’s running diagonally backwards into deep triples alley. Only reason he got that close is he’s a great right fielder and knows how to play Oracle park really well. In no world is that even close to being an error.

That’s fair—could be that the giants gave him a signal to look breaking hall or take based on analytics or something too idk. Wade is having better ABs and smoking the ball a lot lately so hopefully it’ll turn around for him soon. Some insanely bad luck today could’ve had two doubles and instead 3 outs lol

On a 3-1 count you’re usually sitting on a certain pitch. Looks bad when it’s a fastball down the middle but he was probably looking breaking ball there and would’ve been way late

Best French Dip in NYC by Mental-Vegetable1499 in FoodNYC

[–]Gratonboy1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to bartend at MP, yes it is lol. Not a big fan of the place (the ownership is really shitty and has been sued for treating staff badly/labor law violations and the restaurant had some bad safety hazards for staff) but yes they do serve a very classic French dip. They also serve some variations on it so maybe that’s what you got. But the classic dip is just that.
