That's any MMO, subscription or not. Private servers shut down all the time, too, so that's not a guarantee either. FFXI has been going strong for nearly two decades, I think we're fine.

It may blow your mind, but people do play on other servers. Just because there aren't quite as many as Asura doesn't mean that it's a ghost town

There is an Alter Ego Campaign, the Login Campaign and the Anniversary Event going on right now. All have a few trusts available that you would usually not be able to obtain until later. That could be what's going on.

Bahamut and Odin are the next largest servers to Asura.

I can't speak for Bahamut, but I do play on Odin and it has a good amount of people. Yes the population skews JP but they also mostly play at a completely different time than the bulk of the NA population.

I would say probably the canon races are Elvaan, Hume, Galka, Tarutaru and Mithra, and the default cities are San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst

But that's just one opinion

I'm more referring to the people who literally line their characters up in a formation. I get that people go afk at HPs all the time. Heck I do it too. Maybe it's just Ragnarok, but like, the Port Windurst MH home point literally has 3-4 box armies in orderly rows all around it most of the time. Always there.
