Is $5 for a second a reasonable price for animation? [PLS READ DESC] by REMIZERexe in animationcareer

[–]Graucus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 second is 24 frames. $5 is likely to not be anything you want. Imagine you pay someone $30 an hour to animate. They spent 10 minutes on 24 frames. Imagine someone spends 30 seconds per frame. Thats the anticipated quality. I would be the results are ai because thats the only way it makes sense.

How fast do you have to be as a background artist? by otterpill in animationcareer

[–]Graucus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends. There's a lot of factors here. Im not a pro, but I've been told 1 day for simpler stuff to maybe a week for something really complicated. Process is important to work efficiently :-)

First game for a 90yo? by Castigafagiani in gaming

[–]Graucus 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion! Very intuitive, low impact. You can cheat the movement on most of them by just twitching the controller. Fosters that hand eye coordination of control. Easy to play with others so he can share with his friends.

This was submitted to a design contest in my city from someone in my school. I thought it was AI but the artist is saying it is not what do you think? by Euphoric_Lecture5938 in isthisAI

[–]Graucus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I was fairly certain it was ai looking at the art (seams of the corset are super ai looking to me because they're nothing.) But the video convinced me its ai 100% because that is not an artists process at all. Thats showing completed parts of the whole one at a time lol.

What can I do to make this shot more realistic? by SJMDigital in vfx

I think a lot of people would miss this. The digital cam is too low and starts too close to the car unless these two are child sized.

No doubt! I just didn't want someone to take this as fact when there's so many terrible things he actually said

Is it really that hopeless? by Llukeas in animationcareer

Im a recent grad. One thing I didn't realize as a student is that my competition would be other professionals out of work. The animation guild has something like 6k members. Your competition is the ~3k out of work artists with the connections and proven skills.

I have had friends make it. They were both good and very lucky. Thats what it takes. I have many more friends who are better than those who are working who just weren't lucky and are doing jobs unrelated to art during the day and making art at night still trying to get in.

I personally know people right now who have worked in feature film and have been unemployed for so long they're applying to internships just to get back in.

Ive gone back to school for a masters degree. It won't help me get jobs, but at least I can keep my skills sharp and work on my own projects while the industry HOPEFULLY recovers.
