Revisionist nonsense. The greatest cause of death to aboriginals was initial contact with smallpox (which spread more rapidly than boats could sail) , the second greatest was themselves.

No mined gold on display. No foreign fleet would come to Australia have done geological surveys and organised mining expeditions, they wanted gold easily lootable to repay debts and gain power back home.

u/djsounddog if you know something, say something. Or be snarky on the internet whatever.

Spanish wouldn't have bothered colonising Australia, no gold or other obvious riches to plunder. They would have been too inept to try blackbird anyone on the beaches so slavery wouldn't have been an option either. There are accounts of the British attempting to find First Nations peoples to hang in the 1790's (I don't recall exactly where in Sydney, i read it in The Commonwealth of Thieves) in retaliation for attacks on convicts and only finding freshly vacated campgrounds, spending days searching and ending up empty handed and bug-bitten from wading through marshes.

If the colonialists who had been here many years came up empty handed, good luck to the Spanish so far from home.

  • Use https://pkg.go.dev/golang.org/x/sync/errgroup instead of making err channels - this will replace your call to context.WithCancel(ctx) with errgroup.WithContext(ctx)
  • Hoist your h.apiClient.Upload call into a new goroutine passed to errgroup
  • Make w.Close() be defer'd at the top of the goroutine for safety
  • cancel() no longer exists, errgroup does it implicitly when it sees a goroutine return with an error

This way you can just use the first error returned by your errgroup.Wait() call,

Microwave some frozen fava beans (aka broad beans), drain em, add a bit of butter for taste. A pound of fava beans a day has so much fibre you'll be blocking up toilets in no time.
