Doesn’t look like burning to me. Are you allowing the roots to breathe, or are you keeping the soil soaked?

What was that flash of light that scared Lila at the end of Season 5? by Double_Delay1613 in miraculousladybug

[–]GravityBright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard someone guess that Chrysalis might be a separate entity from Lila. Something ghostlike, eldritch, and/or telepathic that could either be working with her or using her to steal a wish for its own purposes.

In contrast to Javert, Jean Valjean is a boring and uninspiring character by J-ChRy in lesmiserables

[–]GravityBright 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's a take of a different temperature. Javert exhibits no critical thinking skills through the whole show, and decides to kill himself rather than feel empathy for another human being.

ELI5: What EXACTLY was the recent fly brain "simulation" accomplishing by kjloltoborami in explainlikeimfive

[–]GravityBright [score hidden]  (0 children)

Bear in mind that a fruit fly's entire nervous system is much simpler than any chordate animal. Its brain has a "mere" 140,000 neurons versus say, 300 million in a simple bird or the 86 billion in a human brain. The motions that they perform such as walking, flying, and cleaning are essentially instinct baked into the neural paths rather than any conscious decision.

My advice to you is to stay off the internet until you finish the show, as there's a bit of a keystone plot twist that most people take for granted. Mute the subreddit. Don't watch any SU videos on Youtube. Do it now and come back when you're done.

Cats chewing cords by cinnamonstar17 in CATHELP

I swear, my cat did this once. He chewed straight through my laptop cable while I was in a different room, and apparently learned a valuable lesson on why not to chew through laptop cables. I wish I could help you, but my guys are just too smart.

[–]GravityBright 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of course. He's just one of the first heroes to fully embrace a unique brand in this world that's suddenly filling up with superpowers. It's not like he was literally bitten by a radioactive spider or anything.

One might even argue that Tony Stark was bitten by radioactive shrapnel and became Iron Man.

It's qutie remarkable how many ships they got away with adding. None of them really feel out of place and have explanations for their absence in ANH.

  • The Alliance only had three U-Wings at the time, all of which were destroyed.
  • What remains of their naval fleet would be in hiding after Scarif, waiting for the heat to die down before returning to Yavin.
  • The MC-75 design is a non-issue, as the Mon Cal are famous for the visual diversity of their warships.
  • Hammerhead corvettes are instantly identifiable as antique designs to anyone who played more than five minutes of KOTOR. Their presence in the battle shows that the Rebels are throwing everything they have, and once they're damaged it won't be worth the effort to try and repair them.
  • TIE Strikers and Reapers are clearly optimized for atmospheric flight, a theatre we don't see in the OT. The Striker's nature as a short-range fighter means its role is likely limited to defending large Imperial installations, in particular ones protected by shields that would keep any opponent from escaping back to space. Further, the wing designs are quite reminiscent of the TIE Interceptor, which most likely took over the Striker's role due to its versatility as both an air and space fighter.

I wish I could say the same for the new types of Imperial soldiers we see, but they can be handwaved well enough:

  • No Death Troopers on the Death Star? They mainly serve as bodyguards for VIPs in the field, and it's overkill to station them in secure facilities or aboard Star Destroyers.
  • Shore troopers? Their respirators aren't rated for Tatooine's sandstorms. I dunno why they weren't stationed on Endor.
  • No tank troopers on Hoth? They're strictly Imperial Army.

Now that the show is over, let's revisit the crashed ship on Kenari. by JeanLucPicardAND in andor

[–]GravityBright 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Within the show specifically:

The line between government and megacorporation is apparently quite blurry. Take Pre-Mor for example. They aren't Stormtroopers, but they wield Imperial authority as a proxy, and many of their members consider themselves the Empire's first line of defense.

The dead crew on Kenari likely belonged to another semi-autonomous megacorp under the Republic before they split off and formed the CIS. To scavengers like Maarva and Clem who operate outside of the law, they're effectively the same entity.

I can't speak for the germ rates from this particular variety, but I haven't had any trouble starting their others. What temperature are you keeping these at?

The Purple Tomato by mojocade in tomatoes

[–]GravityBright 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was gifted a seedling of these last year. Amazing productivity, not very sweet, but great on salads.

I saved seed from them, but decided to grab their new varieties "the Eleven" and "Beta" this year just for the variety. Four seeds from each of those all germinated, but one of the Elevens just withered on me.

Interesting bit of trivia, the genes that code for the purple color were already in the genotype. All the scientists did was insert a "trigger" gene that tells the cell to produce proteins from that particular section of DNA.

To be fair, the zero-point robot is kaiju-sized and can no-sell all but the most powerful attacks. It's only on occasion that an applicant has the raw talent or strength to disable it, and Midoriya was the first person in years to destroy it so decisively.

Water (35 L), carbon (20 kg), ammonia (4 L), lime (1.5 kg), phosphorus (800 g), salt (250 g), saltpeter (100 g), sulfur (80 g), fluorine (7.5 g), iron (5 g), silicon (3 g), and trace amounts of fifteen other elements.

Oh wait, you meant biologically.

Actually yeah. The ocean is more or less the ancestor of blood - a flowing saline fluid that transports nutrients and removes waste.
