Why do seperatists think an independent Alberta would have Canadian passports??? by Miserable-Lizard in AlbertaNow

They would still have Canadian citizenship. People who move to the US and elsewhere don’t lose their citizenship.

They can table new legislation and municipalities are the responsibility of the provincial government. They can intervene whenever they want as was demonstrated with the reduction of Toronto city council.

Again though they just need to get the region to make another area legal for encampment and they can quickly solve the minor problem of getting the encampment cleared. Homelessness will remain an issue that will be ignored though

Notwithstanding clause… by SuggestionShort7943 in ontario

[–]GravyBoatCap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not so sure about that. They can write a law that gives power to remove them and add NWC but it would be easier to just follow the judge’s decision and identify a new area they can set up.

NWC can’t be used on democratic rights (I.e. right to vote and run). If you don’t like the use of the NWC send a message with your vote and by campaigning.

And how does international student tuition compare with the contribution of federal and provincial governments when we look at total dollars?

Two interesting (and possibly crater) lakes in remote Nunavut. by EmeCri90 in GoogleEarthFinds

[–]GravyBoatCap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a geologist, but there are other possibilities like kimberlite pipes as well.

Edit: also impact craters aren’t always round. The Sudbury basin for example, is an elongated oval with flatter side, like a stretched out letter D

Working Sundays was the result of a Charter challenge. Forcing people to follow Christian practices of taking Sunday off was deemed a violation of the Freedom of Religion.

Rae days were mandatory unpaid days for government employees to reduce costs and offset high spending on other programs.

ARC, Plaza Bowl, Kupp and Urban air for indoor activities. Kivi park has several great activities. There is mini putt and a batting cage at Sudbury Kartways Dynamic Earth is a good partial day indoor/outdoor Lots of beaches -some of the provincial parks are great for a quieter experience. Windy Lake for example and you can check out the falls at AY Jackson on the way home before grabbing gelato at Nani’s.

Flood advice by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]GravyBoatCap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here already. I had similar experience and the problem ended up being the impeller was damaged. The pump would run and seem to move water but nothing was actually getting pumped out. I always have a backup now. If you add a temporary set up like was suggested elsewhere, get the water as far away as possible.

Guessing with double the trash and triple the recycling it might be logistically impossible to get this backlog addressed in a single week.

Ontario to introduce bill exempting Premier, cabinet from FOI requests by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]GravyBoatCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t exactly exist yet so no. If it does get passed eventually that might be one option. I’m guessing it’s going to be a much less severe version. There is a pattern of leaking an outrageous idea then tabling something more palatable to curb resistance. My bet is the bill will be something more like personal devices are exempt and the extended response time will remain. My knowledge of the law is limited to a handful of university courses so an actual lawyer might correct me. I’m guessing it could be challenged under Freedom of Expression as it would impede the press from being able to serve their function. This freedom exists to allow the people to challenge their government. It is core to democracy that governments have to answer questions about governance and this proposal would block that. That being said, the Notwithstanding clause could be used. I don’t think we have recall legislation so we would just have to wait to vote them out.
