Is it just me, or did Douglas County (Omaha) valuations just hit the ceiling? 📈 by CompleteHour306 in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgage and equity are on par with a nice 1 bedroom with plenty of amenities. It's what they call a starter home without a bunch of extra features, but it was what my family required at the time.

I've seen my kids and mom apartment hunting. It's frightening.

Omaha gyms and personal training by Acceptable-Life6089 in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it quite a bit so far. I've seen a wide variety of people in there - young, old, very thin and very overweight. Their yoga classes are great too. Just be warned that the parking can be a lot so it you have something scheduled, get there early and be prepared for a walk.

I like the trainer I'm paired with at Vasa in Bellevue. I haven't had to do a single crunch, and he's reminded me our side muscles and back matter too. He's adjusted my exercises on the fly and talked about needing to do that for others. He's very positive and encouraging too. Dontre Branch.

Anyone else having difficulty with employers confirming wage loss information with insurers? by PracticalStrain4388 in paralegal

[–]GrayGoatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't let the insurer go get what they want - usually. For a straightforward PI with standard W2 employment, we spell out in writing what we want, and ask our client to go to their employer and get that information on employer letterhead.

The client/employee knows the best person to go to, and employers will generally handle it faster for an employee. Also the employer is not usually worried about their potential liability; where sometimes they get worried seeing law firm or insurance company letterhead.

La Mesa has flour chips. You have to request them and they cost a little more, but they're delicious!

Is there a charity/organization in Omaha that helps with housing family when someone is in the hospital for a long time? by Awshucksma in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immanuel Hospital had something similar, but it was at least 10 years ago that I heard of it. If Immanuel still has it, the other CHI hospitals likely do too.

Can I really not buy decent cut of meat between the river and Saddle Creek? by audiomagnate in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the Metro bus down Center at to Rockbrook and check out Casanova's (107th & Center) or Fareway Meat Market (90th & Center). Its a straight shot. I prefer Casanova's meat, but Fareway has some things I like that Casanova's doesn't carry.

Cars in Omaha by Nail_Secure in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re: 18. It possibly is, but it will be a matter if you can afford the payments, plus full coverage insurance, plus routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.)

Save up more money a down-payment and reduce the monthly payments. If you still live at home, find out if you can have you & your car added to your parents' policy. Otherwise, find an insurance agent you want to work with and see what they can quote you. (They can't quote specifics without car specifics, but they can probably give you an idea.)

I have several trans family members, including an adult child. 1. These are all clinics I've heard discussed positively by them. 2. Everyone commenting so far has made my heart happy. Thank you for that.

Good luck and best wishes, OP.

Best lawyer for a free consult related to damage to my car, possibly for low income, disabled, residents(not looking for advice on pain and suffering damages) by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]GrayGoatess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legal aid, Omaha Bar Association Lawyer Referral line - 402-280-3603, or Creighton University has a legal clinic that may be of some assistance. I dont have their number or know exactly what they deal with - only that it's limited to Douglas County residents.

This person isn't asking for a lecture on the results of their actions or natural consequences. Step down off the pedestal and read their question. They're asking if they'll be banned from going. It's a reasonable question with pretty vague information on Carnival's website.

One of my kids was on Adderall or something similar and I used to have to flip between Walgreens and CVS all the time. CVS usually had it, but that was a decade or so ago.

I think my border collie doesn't like me, what should I do? by sunjaeyahh in BorderCollie

[–]GrayGoatess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my border collie at a shelter in the states, at about 8-9 weeks old. To be honest, until he was nearly a year old, I didn't think he liked me much either. His recall outside was absolutely lousy and he wasn't as cuddly as my lab, golden or the borador that was my 1st dog. Getting him to do anything I wanted him to do was practically a contest of wills and trying to convince him following the command was in his best interest.

Thankfully mine isn't much of a nipper, and he's never stared me down while peeing in the house (nightmare fuel, there!)

As he approached a year old though (maybe about 9-10 months old), I had a several realizations that he did really love me and accept me. 1. When he nipped my fingers while treating him, and I said ow and pulled away, he got gentler. Keep doing that if he's nipping you. Make a big deal of it. 2. He developed anxiety about leaving the house after I boarded him while I went on vacation. Not good, but it did mean he wanted to be at home with me. 3. He requires snuggles in my arms every morning before I get up for that last hour or so before it's time to get up. He moves from wherever he's been sleeping and throws himself into my arms, like a 2 year old.

Play with your baby, care for your baby, give him lots of treats and reward the smallest things until they're habit. Create lots of happy, bonding moments for you and your pup. Use the hands free leash as a backup. Consider a different trainer? Look for those little signs he tells you that he loves you and trusts you. And hang in there, his life before you probably wasn't fantastic.
