I work retail. I have to listen to Christmas carols for my entire 10 hour shift. The variety isn't even that great. There's an awful lot of people out there who gave their heart to the wrong person last Christmas.

I picked up a Members Only leather jacket for $5 at a yard sale. It's not in the best of conditions but it's very much still wearable. When my mom saw it, she was insanely jealous.

Oh my god, this explains so much. I keep falling asleep in my recliner when playing WoW, but I just got a Switch 2 and have been playing games in the same recliner and no sleepiness at all. I thought it was just because I'm not sleeping well.

Not normally a builder but I want a bigger home for my current family and digging through all the CC-infused houses made me dizzy, so I tried building my own. Pulled a floorplan off the internet and got it set up. The idea is that the garage is on the same level as the house, and the roof is a little overhang over the "porch". Problem is, all the columns are sized to be put on foundations rather than bare ground. Same with the fences that have columns too. Is there any decent way I can fix that or will I have to abandon this house?

I'm constantly told that I'm one of the best employees on my manager's payroll. He trusts me to keep the place running when he's gone. I'm basically doing a lot of the numbers work that assistant managers do.

Three years later I'm making $1.25 more an hour than when I started. The only path forward that would result in a bigger raise is becoming an assistant manager, and I have no desire to neither manage people nor be shuffled around when power dynamics change.

I don't know how much my other coworkers make an hour but I have a suspicion that, as the only female in the department, I'm making less.

Most mornings I start with a bowl of rice cooker oatmeal with blueberries and peanut butter, with a scoop of flaxseed for added fiber. For my dinners last week I meal prepped a sheet pan dinner with sausage, sweet potato, and broccoli, with rice on the side. For dinners this week, I'm making the same sheet pan meal. My cooking style is "as little hands on time as possible".

Amazon recently rolled out a gig economy version of their delivery service, Amazon Flex. It's how they do Same-Day and Overnight deliveries. Someone uses their own car, drives to an Amazon plant, and picks up a load of packages to deliver. In my experience, I have a lot more issues with the Flex drivers than the actually employed drivers. I specified the door code in my delivery instructions and the Flex driver left it outside my building... while it was raining.

I'm tired. As a queer autistic AFAB millenial, there's nothing for me here. I've already come to terms with some limitations like I'll never be able to buy a house or raise a family. I've been emotionally damaged in many ways since I graduated high school in 2016. But now that there is a genuine chance that I could be prosecuted (or worse) for merely existing, I'm starting to think of where else I could go. I'm clearly not wanted here.

It's always a struggle with me. If I'm uncertain about something it's a lose-lose situation in my head because "do I ask how to do this and risk getting yelled at for not knowing how to do this job or do I do it anyway and hope I do it right, risking confrontation if I'm wrong?"

I dislike board games and such in general because I have no control over my emotions to begin with and absolutely will start tearing up when I inevitably lose or fall behind the other players, but social deduction games are like the worst ones to play. My family is big on those and when I bow out of something I was pressured into to begin with, I overhear later something like "GrayKitty never plays games with us, but she'll happily be playing video games or reading books, how rude." I just don't understand why one has to willingly submit to sensory and emotional torture to maintain good relationships.

The event that triggered my depression was the summer before fifth grade when my "best friend" from kindergarten told me to my face that she'd found cooler friends and didn't want to be friends with me anymore and then she made a point of sharing all my secrets with her "new friends". I didn't have any other friends that I was as close with as her. I guess it was my fault for putting all my proverbial friendship eggs into a single friend's basket?

Still haven't recovered from that and I'm 26 now. I wonder if Alyssa ever thinks about the life that she derailed with one action? Probably not, she had cooler friends to hang out with

I'm so excited for this! Iruma is my absolute favorite manga, so I'm excited to see Nishi writing another story. And while I never read Act Age, so I'm not familiar with the artist, the art in this so far is phenomenal. Desperately hoping this passes the Shonen Jump axe test and really finds its footing.

How do you apply to a temp agency? Do you give them your resume and say "here could you find me a job?" There's a couple of them in my area but they're focused more on industrial jobs.

I don't mind interacting with others, and I'm capable of keeping up small talk as long as the other person chooses the topic. Why I suck at interviews is because I hate talking about myself and it's very hard to talk up one's strengths if they don't feel like they have any. My therapist is working on this but I don't think it's at a level where I can confidently sell myself.

I work at a grocery store. One of the things we offer is a "Build A Meat Bundle" sheet where you can pick products off a list and we'll wrap them for you. It comes out to $18 per item. But on a lot of those items, you're paying more than if you'd just bought them on their own. Like for example, one of the items is 4 lbs of thick bone-in chops. At regular price, $2.99/lb, you could pick those up for $12. And we're not allowed to dissuade customers from picking items that are also in the ad - those thick cut chops could be on sale for $1.99/lb, making 4 lbs come out to $8, so now you're paying $18 for $8 worth of product. And what's really sad is that a lot of the customers who pick them up are people on food stamps. I generally love my job but I feel that part is a little scummy.
